IL2 Strumovik: Birds of Prey Dogfight Screens...
505 Games released IL2 Strumovik: Birds of Prey for the Xbox 360 early, it's a good thing since 3 other games are getting released on the old release date (09/08/09) also...
A few of us got together, before most could even finish the tutorials and unlock new planes, for a few dogfighting sessions...
Here's a few screens from the action... first impressions are very positive, some minor issues here and there, and a couple of major ones (like no cockpits in German planes)... but over all a good flight sim for our console system... maybe not as simulation as it could be, but moving in the right direction. JMO.
BTW, we played in realistic mode, which is between arcade and simulation... the flying is simulation, but labels and compass are on... sue us, were still learning, lol.
more later... more players, more modes.

IL2 for PC will be more realistic i hope? Like the first?
Also why is there that black round border around the screenies? Edited or in game? Cuz that would annoy the hell outta me unless ur blacking out.

I downloaded the demo on my PS3 yesterday and enjoyed it. Gonna grab it because the IL-2 1946 I bought cheap off steam really looks too dated

you obviously haven't played it, probably don't even own a Xbox 360, if you think this is anything like HAWX... I'm willing to bet your just one of these idiot console haters with the usual closed mind.
It's OK, not to post a reply, especially when you have no clue what your talking about.

The graphics look pretty good other than the vignetting, view distance, and the HUD. The terrain and trees LOD looks good. Hopefully Storm of War: BoB will look as good or better than this.
How is the damage modeling in this compared to 1946?
Wouldn't it be cool if that Project Natal thing could work as a TrackIR type thing for console flight sims?
Also, is it possible to play it in a more hardcore mode with no HUD and stuff?
edit#1billion: also, what is that Picture-in-Picture spectate thingy? Is it like a PinP padlock view on your current contact?

Re: IL2 Strumovik: Birds of Prey Dogfight Screens...
yes... in arcade and realistic modes you have that pip window for the locked target... there is a simulation mode that takes all that away, but so far extremly hard even for this long tim flight simmer... situational awareness is terrible in sim mode... but i just got to learn.

Looks great, and it's cool that there is actually a sim-like combat flight sim out on a console. Seems to be a step in the right direction. The only thing I don't like is the Saving Private Ryan-style video treatment.

I have the game on 360, and its very fun. I really enjoy the game, and I'd love to get some matches in with any TG'ers. GT- Mr Monkey Man29
Also, is it just me, or does the P51D Mustang seem to stall out abnormally?

Re: IL2 Strumovik: Birds of Prey Dogfight Screens...
Alot of issues... not as simulation as we had hoped... still a great game, but even in sim mode you get 30 bombs and tons of ammo...etc etc...
