Trained to do this or not, I still think that's a pretty awesome little maneuver. Helicopters are cool. I want one.

Spec, What does those things top out at? That thing was cookin' when it was comming in to land on the carrier.

I personaly was wondering... There's a guy in the window of the heli when it comes in to land, looks like he's thinking about jumping out or somthing, why didn't he?

That guy in the hatch was my friend Cpl. Claskin. On landings and approach, the crewchief is calling out to the pilots altitude and object location warnings (Trees, etc) . That guy in the hatch was my old job.

CH-46 Seaknights and CH-47 Chinooks top out around 120Kts. Thats dash speed. Cruise is around 90-105Kts. Approach speed is about 30 Kts. They were at about 45Kts due to a massive headwind.
