Fishin' pics

Maybe I'm the only one here who fishes on a regular basis? I don't know, anyway, just thought I'd share some pics from the last week or so - all bass and cats...

Shenango Dam, Pymatuning and various other backyard/farm lakes most of the time. I'm thinking you have no idea where any of that is beings that Mechanicsburg is on the other side of PA I think. I'm in western PA.

Just a few more from a couple days ago...

I almost had a really, really nice bass towards the end of the day. It was probably the size of the biggest bass we've caught at this particular pond plus half of that. What I think happened was I set the hook about 1.5 seconds too early. The fish broke water on me (like most bass tend to do) and got off. I wasn't too pleased.

Hopefully I'll have more tomorrow after another long day of fishin'.

Re: Fishin' pics

Nice pics. Ill have to start bringing my camera so you can see all my empty beer cans and no fish. The furthest west I go to fish is Raystown Lake and Vulcan's absolutely correct, Mechanicsburg is right below Harrisburg.

Re: Fishin' pics

Heh, I've had many days without catching anything. Everyone does. It's just a matter of knowing where to fish, what they're biting, how you present your bait and the time of day. Me and my dad caught all of those bass off of nightcrawlers and panfish (bluegill). Funny thing is I had a turtle on my line and was bringing it in, mind you pretty reasonable size - well as I'm reeling it in a bass comes from beneath the dock we're sitting on and takes a run at the turtle! How he figured to swallow a turtle was beyond me, but fish think in mysterious ways sometimes.

As far as Mechanicsburg goes, I should've known that. I have relatives in Harrisburg.

Dont know if any of you use this but try this link:http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/reports/index.html

It can give you list by State or specific body of water and what the poster caught them with.

Tight lines.

Re: Fishin' pics

I just noticed that you can't view most of these photos without registering on those forums. So what I did was compiled a zipfile for anyone interested in viewing them. There are 69 photos total. I just need to find somewhere to host a 16mb zip file. It's mostly bass and catfish, with a few little bluegills here and there (or as I like to call bait), a carp and a turtle thrown in. It's pretty much all from the last couple months of fishing. I'll probably have more later as we're still fishing (with the help of a campfire and a lot of clothing, damn cold, and lanterns at night).

Here's a few for quick viewing...

Anyway, if you're interested in viewing the full set (69 pictures), PM me. Until then I'll try and find a host for the file but I'm too tired at the moment.

You actually fish for carp? I don't know where you fish, and I'm not a fisherman, but from everywhere I've been, that would be an average sized carp...

Re: Fishin' pics

No, I do not fish for carp. It's disheartening most of the time to get a big hit and it end up being a carp. Beings that that one was close to three foot in length I wasn't complaining though. That was the biggest carp I've caught in any event, on four pound test none the less.

I fish for just about everything. It all depends on the day, weather and the location obviously. Catfish are probably my favorite (with the exception of muds) because of the endless limit on how big they can get and how they fight. Northern Pike are awesome but I've yet to catch a really, really big one. Same goes for Muskies...awesome catch but I've yet to get a real big one.

Fished for a while today but nothing worthwhile. The cold front kept just about everything from hitting. Just a couple Crappies and a relatively small Channel Catfish.
