Yeah - this year turned out to be a Black Cat year - but it really just depend on who imports the good stuff for the year.. I haven't been too excited about this years stuff - almost everything in that pile was introduced two years ago - Black Cat Spectrum series, and The Phantom/Grucci Compression Shells. Shagadelic Mojo is pretty much a Phantom staple - eveyone always likes that one. It'll be a first for the Mini Mites, and the Copperhead reloadables.. tiny, but I hear people really like them. They've taken Phantom Thunderstick, and Sky King Window Shakers off the shelves this year - they were my all-time favorite.. a high-altitude, titanium flash and a CRUSHING report.. they could be heard for miles..

I am sure there will be another quick run to the stands later this week.. still don't have any Saturn Missile Batteries yet.. I'd also like more Black Cat NEON bottle rockets.. they are VERY cool for a little bottle rocket.

The laws up here are similar. Technically fireworks are illegal in Rhode Island, but in most towns there is little to no enforcement. I tend to play it safe and will only break out my stash if we've had lots of rain and things are still wet. I don't want to be responsible for burning down the southern half of the state because of my desire to set off some fireworks in the middle of a drought.

There are a few things we can't get up here. Bottle rockets, M80's, and salutes being in that mix.

Re: Fireworks 2006

Most of the cities in the KC metro and surrounding area have fireworks bans. There are still lots of fields close to the metro and it's ALWAYS dry and hot here on the 4th so I guess they play it safe.

The plus is we know a couple of places where you can sit and watch the shows from 4 or 5 cities all without moving an inch.

Re: Fireworks 2006

Last year we started going to whitehorse beach in Plymouth (of pilgrims/mayflower fame)... 15foot stacks of wood get lit up and down the beach, and from dusk until about 11:30, it's an unbelievable show. Even though they're illegal in MA, people bring thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of fireworks and set them off... along with plenty of grilling and drinking, all right in front of the police! It's really a very cool atmosphere... everyone knows the police are letting them get away with something, so there's nobody presses their luck... just purely good times celebrating America's independance day.

We won't be shooting off any this year, but here's some shots from last year:

Right on.. sounds like there is going to be competition from down the street this year!

Bring it on!

Although - they've gotta be hurtin' if they are already popping aerials off at 6:15 in the afternoon.
