VBS1 Delta Ops 01 AAR

About 5 of us connected this morning for a couple of VBS1 cooperative missions, fantastic time, three missions done... here's the first mission AAR.

Delta Ops 01

Mission:

Alpha squad is ordered to locate the 2 downed Apache pilots held somewhere with in the town. Once located they are to be escorted to an awaiting Black hawk for extraction.

Alpha squad is then instructed to locate the downed Apache and destroy it.

Once complete, they are to move to wards the extraction point.

Civilian casualties must be kept to a minimum.

Mission Briefing:

My gear:

The team:

We mount up after briefing and move out to wards the town:

Lead vehicle spots a look out, engages with there Mark 19, look out killed:

We spot the town, the decision is made on the direction of the assault using the terrain to our advantage:

We all dismount and form up, moving to wards the town:

We engage a couple of local fighters:

An enemy Jeep with a mounted machine gun starts moving to wards us, we all shift fire and engage:

The Jeep is neutralized and we prepare to move in closer:

We start to pair up and use bounding overwatch to get closer to the town, one team engages targets as there spotted while the other move up in 3 to 5 second rushes, diving for cover:

The team reaches the outer wall of the town:

The team enters, while I cover... they locate the two pilots and begin to retreat back to the vehicles, while my team continues to cover and support:

Waiting for the final team member to form up to mount:

We mount up with the rescued pilots:

and were off to the Black hawk:

We move down the roadway, eyes always opened with all these downed vehicles an ambush could be waiting anywhere:

The Black hawk is spotted and we move closer, to release the two pilots for extraction:

We then mount up and rejoin, next objective is to locate the downed Apache and destroy it, on the way I run into another look out and engage with my M2 mounted machine gun:

We move and locate the downed Apache, next to this small village, we dismount near some trees and go prone, scanning the situation:

Theres a couple of fighters in that village, we get the OK to engage at will, all in unison after much talk and target ID's:

And another Jeep comes to wards us, we all shift fire and enage... repeat just like before:

We move up to the village, I stay on the M2 to cover the team that enters and clears the village:

Me covering:

Gordon places the charges on the Apache and begins to run back to our vehicle:

As were moving away from the village, the explosives go off, hurling the Apache in the air then lands with a nice explosion:

We make our way to the extraction point, a folk in the road...which do we take to missions end?

Mission Accomplished:

Fantastic mission, good job to all involved... more AAR's coming... a little at a time, don't want to overwork your reading time.

My head hurts . That sounded like fun, and it seems you had a lot of it.

I noticed you always seem to have a pair of nvg with you but the missions always seem to be in the middle of the day. Does the time change at all or is it static?

Re: VBS1 Delta Ops 01 AAR

no time moves, but good point... I don't think we would take out NVG on a day mission.

Fish, most VBS1 players are Australian, so I usually connect with them around 8 AM Eastern, remember... I work nights so get off at 7 AM, play a few hours before bed.

Your free to join, but I know it's a screwed up time for us, still would like to play with you in the evenings whenever able thou.

PM me with an evening time and I'll be there. I won't be able to make it to morning sessions, even if I said I'd make it, I'd probably sleep through it.
