As someone who's not a dog person, I do find that second photo cute. One might even say the dog is doing a cat impression. (Then again, my last couple of cats have been known to cause cavities.)

It's not suprising that you would say that. He acts more like a cat than a dog at times.

I'd love to get a big bird, too, but you almost have to give them their own room. And I'd be afraid of my cats losing toes...

Someday I'll have a Hyacinth Macaw...

We had macaw's growing up. The thing about the big birds is they need ALOT of attention. You almost need to have someone who is home most of the day or they litteraly go crazy insane. the alternative is to get 2 and they will become companions but then they could care less about you.

Re: Official Post Your Pets Thread!!

i am on the edge of pursuting to get a Red Tailed Hawk, but the time and dedication needed to train one fully and completely is alot (that is just to train it to listen to whoever trained it, not even close to the time spent for hawks you see on TV where anyone with a steady arm and a leather glove can hold them)

My uncle is a bird trainer and he used to do a bit of falconry when I was a kid. The hawks were cool, but watching the fast falcons take down a pigeon in midair is absolutely awesome. He had all kinds of impressive birds: Huge owls, huger vultures, a golden eagle, little birds that would use rocks to hammer open an egg... He now runs the bird show at the Fresno Zoo.

Trying to find a good pic of one of my cats when he was a kitten, jumping about 4ft in the air to catch a butterfly.
