i have a parrot and a cocktail
i want to get a macaw but with 2 dogs, 2 birds, 2 kids, and 1 wife i dont know where i would find the room...lol
met a lady the other day that does the bird rescue thing and she told me to give her a call when i ready,,,, she always has the BIG BIRDS that people cant take care of. and the best part is their free to good homes
the only thing i would have to do is build a BIG cage,, its a must have to even be considered....
once again beautiful bird my bratha.

We had macaw's growing up. The thing about the big birds is they need ALOT of attention. You almost need to have someone who is home most of the day or they litteraly go crazy insane. the alternative is to get 2 and they will become companions but then they could care less about you.

i am on the edge of pursuting to get a Red Tailed Hawk, but the time and dedication needed to train one fully and completely is alot (that is just to train it to listen to whoever trained it, not even close to the time spent for hawks you see on TV where anyone with a steady arm and a leather glove can hold them)

My uncle is a bird trainer and he used to do a bit of falconry when I was a kid. The hawks were cool, but watching the fast falcons take down a pigeon in midair is absolutely awesome. He had all kinds of impressive birds: Huge owls, huger vultures, a golden eagle, little birds that would use rocks to hammer open an egg... He now runs the bird show at the Fresno Zoo.
