Where was this? Any idea what kind of bat? I thought they preferred dark places. (Hanging a bat box outside can help keep your local insect population under control.)

It is currently in our crepe myrtle bush right next to our house. Not sure what kind but you usually see them hanging out in trees around here.
Yeah we have a bat thingy that is suppose to attract them. This is the first one I've seen in 5 years since purchasing it. We've been trying to attract them to keep the damn mosquito population down.
Ah, I was actually wondering what part of the planet you were at. Your profile says Charlotte, NC, and I just forgot to look there first. Alas, I haven't yet tracked down a website that'll tell me what species are native to that area.
