Re: Possible FPS and rendering fix

It's funny, I don't really want to see The Hobbit. I liked LOTR just fine, but thinking about watching them now.. at like 9 hours total just sounds sooo boring. So I can't shake that connotation from The Hobbit.

But I really do want to see how the HFR looks. I might love it, might hate it, but I want to know which way I go on it. I guess this is one of those clear "the medium is the message" occasions.

Re: Possible FPS and rendering fix

It took me awhile to realize that The Hobbit was being done in three parts; that kind of puts me off but now I want to know how they split it up! I was going to take my son to see it but not like that. I'll get around to reading the book with him some time soon.

The Hobbit was the last movie I saw. Didn't notice any difference from any other flick I've seen.

Just curious, but was is considered a decent FPS in the game? On high quality settings I am constant at 60 FPS and when really crazy thing go on I dip to 45-50.

Your frames are bigger than mine. I am at medium settings w/Flora and Shadows off in the .ini and get 60 FPS for the most part, but in huge battles I drop as low as 19 FPS.

I'd say your FPS would be a good example of "decent".

The Hobbit is shown in several different versions - "Normal" 24 FPS, "Normal" 3D and HFR (48fps) 3D are being shown at my local IMAX.

If it didn't specify HFR on your ticket, it is very possible you saw it in regular 24fps, which has additional motion blur added in to hide the lower frame rate. I think you'll notice the difference in 48fps.

On a side note with HFR, the 3D aspect of the movie didn't bother me near as much as it sometimes does. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the HFR making the 3D look more natural, or if the 3D elements of The Hobbit are just toned down enough that it isn't jarring.

That's it then. It was 3D but not likely the high frame version.

I get as high as 60 fps in-game but can dip into the high 20s in large battles.

Re: Possible FPS and rendering fix

I saw the HFR 3D version Hobbit, I thought the 48fps really helped out the 3D aspects. Now I want to see 3D only with HFR.

As for games anything less than 60fps will not be as smooth, at 60fps for me, its right on where it should be. Most of the time I'm up there in PS2 but can occasionally drop to 40s, maybe below in huge battle with lots of terrain. Overall though PS2 performance has never really been an issue for my gameplay, running everything on max settings.
