Re: Socom tg clan
Have you played it much in the last few days? I have been playing 8hrs a day the last 3 days with no problems at all (9am to 5 pm). I agree it still needs some work and promised features need to be patched in but the gameplay is great. Its not a arcade shooter and it is very tactical.
Resistence 2 plays great I have been playing the beta for it but I hope that it doesn't end up like the first one because people only play one shot one kill on resistence 1.
Sirusblk are you going to play Socom any in the future or are you getting rid of it already?
Let me know because I'm lining up clan matches for next month right now and I need to know if your going to play in the matches or not ?
Thanks for your time and consideration, DESODE

Re: Socom tg clan
I don't mean to sound mean but I am very displeased with the product. I was promised a beta, and didn't get in. One that I payed for. Then I'm now stuck with a $40 game that is admitted to being unfinished. Half of the features aren't implemented. My experience with the "working" multiplayer is that it doesn't work. Looking at time spent in the game I've spent over 4 hours playing off the disc but only 4 minutes in an actual game session. I can tell you then I didn't enjoy it at all.
Even Trophy Support which is advertised on the box isn't implemented in. I hear reports that everything is gonna be patched in. This shouldn't be the case for a game, I pay money for a game I should expect it to be finished on Day 1.
Are glitches to be expected? Of course, and I'm glad when developers actually fix these and patch these. But this Socom goes beyond that. The Day 1 patch took hours to download and glitches and such (you'd expect to be fixed from the beta) simply weren't.
I realize that my hardships are my own but one absolutely horrible experience out of the ten or so here that bought the game is pretty bad odds. I'd say hold off on buying it, especially with the triple A titles coming out soon, LBP, Fallout 3, etc.
Socom is clearly a case of a game that should have been delayed but wasn't. When all the features actually are patched in then I'll start recommending a buy but this isn't then and it clearly won't be soon.
I'm not getting rid of it so don't go deleting off of your friend's list or booting me out of the guild, I'm just expressing my frustration. I do hope that the game does get to where it should be and I'll periodically be mustering up the courage to give it another try.

I was thinking about getting this but now I may wait untill they get the game together I agree with sirus they should have let a beta out and held off for a full release from what it sound like this is just a $40 beta game.

Yeh, will wait until it's patched. Knew from day 1 there was going to be release problems. Ah well, better fixed in a patch than not at all.

Re: Socom tg clan
Well I want to post an addendum to my previous statements. Today I sat down and decided to give the game another try. I updated to the latest patch 1.20. The game is much much smoother. The menu isn't nearly as slow as it was after day one patch. Gameplay is much smoother, and while I don't enjoy the control system as much as I'd like, I'm dealing with it. Textures actually load this time around, before they were messy blurry blobs with not even a hint of detail. I can actually now see the camouflage on my character. I even sported 2 kills in one game (pathetic I know) but still satisfying for my first real game.
The game isn't fully perfect yet. I still feel like the textures are still quite bland, not enough bump maping. I know it seems like such a small thing to squabble over especially when it's a third person shooter you shouldn't expect that much detail on things like guns like you would on a first person shooter. Still with an HDTV textures still look very bland. There still is some slowdown on the main menus, which is annoying. Load times while vastly improved are still a little too slow for my tastes. At least give me some loading screen eye candy. And lastly, main features like a quick play is still lacking.
Overall the game finally feels like what should have been... *ahem* could have been released on day one. I still don't like the act of joining a lobby, nor does the jerky failtastic spectator cam appease me but it is actually a functioning, fun, game true to the Socom series.

Re: Socom tg clan
The Socom team has stated that they are working on stability issues right now before they add other fixes and features, so that the next features and fixes doesn't make it more difficult to find/create problems. I think the stabilty has gotten way better with the 1.20 patch. A lot of things will be coming in the 1.30 patch Here is a list of some of things they said they are going to try to fit into the 1.30 patch :
SOCOM Awards and PSN Trophies
DTS audio support
Add HUD and scoreboard opacity
Scoreboard invocation improvements (tap select for persistent scoreboard, hold for temporary)
Spectator mode HUD turns off after brief interval
Spectator camera look now respects user invert on/off setting
Spectator camera pan now consistent with in game camera
Add dive-to-prone
Add lean control to d-pad
Gear items stackable
Extend post-round period
Restrict RPGs and grenade launchers in ranked rooms
Increase prone movement speed
Adding support for lefty control configuration (analog stick functions swapped)
Increase frag grenade effectiveness
Prevent incorrect reload interruptions
Bug Fixes
Fix animation issue when prone rolling near certain objects.
Fix remaining issues with statistics gathering and display
Fix bugs related to equipping of C4 in breach mode
Fix occasional audio drop outs
Fix last remaining framerate hitch when other clients late join
Fix remaining stability issues
Fix hostages being affected by smoke
Of course there will also be many additional smaller fixes included in the patch. Please watch this spot for updates as the patch moves through development and into QA/verification/deployment.
We are also hard at work on an additional patch which will include the remaining community support features. The design and art teams are also making great progress on new content- based on some of the posts in the forums, many of you will be very happy with what is coming down the pipe.
Thanks again for your continuing support,

Re: Socom tg clan
Yah I still stand by my statement that this was clearly a game not ready to ship and shipped incompletely. I just wish they'd swallowed their pride and held the game in development longer.
Their public Beta largely felt like it was fresh out of Alpha and didn't belong in the public Beta category. Now their game is turning quite solid but still lacks many features. It still feels incomplete to me.

Re: Socom tg clan
Well it's Sony , I Mean what do you expect. They have been dropping the ball with online gameplay for years now. It took 3 weeks after release untill sony gave/put up the new servers for Socom. They said" We want to gauge the amount of people before we put up servers other then the beta servers". Thats how sony does things 95% of the time. Don't get me started, I could name tons of things they have said that we never saw. Back in the days of the ps2 , their own CEO said" Online gaming is fad market and we believe it will be short lived".
Yeah sony's online is free but as it stands right now they have the worst online game release record I have ever seen ! Its really mind blowing to me. They are always pushing Developers to release games that aren't finished. Its acually in the contracts, when a game company wants to release a game on the ps3 the contracts say that if there is a online portion of the game Sony reserves the right to set the final release date.
They should have just charged a small fee for online gaming so they can hire some people that know what their doing. Its just plain Sad if you ask me. I personally don't think they will every catch up to Xboxlive at this point. I have my serious doubts about HOME also. From what I have seen of it , I feel its going to be a flop also, full of problems , bugs and crashes ! Don't get me wrong I want Sony to do well , Its just that do to their record I have no faith left in them what so ever.
I agree that Socom should have been held back for release, and thats what Slant 6 wanted too. Sony shoots anyone they can in the foot and they don't have any toes left themselves ! I still feel that even without the features added in yet, that Socom is the BEST 3rd person tactical shooter on the ps3 or any console for that matter. Heck if you got it with the headset you got the game for $10 !! You can't beat that ! Even if you don't like the game or suck at playing it. The offical ps3 Bluetooth headset it Great . Its one of the 5% of things sony has done right.
