Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
I have been playing for a bit now on the full version and finally reached level 15. The game play is great in my books except for some minor quirks. The biggest for me is the nades. I throw them at the enemy, I watch them fly through the air about 30 meters away and explode. Then it says I blew myself up with my own nade. Like WTH? I sure hope they fix this issue. Cause it is real frusterating at times. I just snipe now and tend not to use em. But the maps are huge, awesome for sniping. Lots of good hiding places with room to move around. And yes there are TG members who play this. They are just keeping quiet. I have been around for 10 years, and they do that sometimes.
My 911 call is a round being chambered.

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
Got MAG a month ago now and have been playing it on and off due to RL....and it's a blast. Been searching high and low for like-minded people to play with. Found this
site today so I'm dropping by and saying "Hi!". Signed on with Raven so if there are any other Ravenites out there, feel free to add me - "Raventoak".
Regards,

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
Welcome to TG. Just a heads up though, TacticalGamer mainly focuses on PC gaming, and these console forums are quite secondary compared to a lot of the stuff we have going here. Therefore it may be entirely possible that TG has a low level of activity in this game (especially as most of the guys seemed to have gone with Valor), but hopefully you can find a few guys to play with.

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
So I joined SVER, and I'm moving up the ranks pretty quickly. I've already unlocked resuscitation, so I am getting XP pretty quickly by just hanging back and reviving people, and engaging when necessary.
I'm getting a better impression than I did from the beta. While the graphics and sound make it feel somewhat generic, it really does hit on all cylinders on the stuff that counts, which is the combat and tactical stuff. I am really liking the 8-man squads, and so far I've been lucky in that people have been communicating objectives. You also get a lot of automated radio alerts that tell you when your objective is being captured, etc...
Lots of fun, I am Evo_47 on PSN so join me if you have it."No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
Might just, but I have a ton of SP games to get through first plus a World Cup so it may well be a while.

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
More impressions after playing with some friends......
It is extremely hectic. Domination mode (full 256 player mode) is just insane. Not knowing what any of our assets are, or how they work, made things just seem like chaos to me. I did fine just standing by our SL's frago marker and repelling the onslaught, but when we got pushed back and I had to figure out how to defend our bunker, AAA, and control points, I was lost. Map knowledge seems to be key to doing well, and this game is extremely newbie-unfriendly. If the pace were a little slower, I might have been able to figure out where everything is and how it works, but things were ebbing and flowing way too fast to even bring the map up for a few moments.
Things move very fast, and you MUST continuously be on the move or you will die. Crouching down and thinking you'll camp it out does not work. Enemies will just swarm around you.
Being on defense seems a lot easier than offense. Even with the APCs rolling in at us, they went down fairly quickly and it didn't seem hard to hold our line for the most part."No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
New modes Escalation and Interdiction have been added since the last post. A new Skill Tree and Armory have also been added since the last post.
Is this game still in the weeds?

I play usually on Tuesday evenings with some folks from the Quarter to Three forums. I'm Evo_47 if you'd like to friend me and join up if you're SVER.

Re: MAG - 256 Player Matches
BTW, I have been playing MAG since the beta and have gone through all the PMC's several times. Right now I am playing SVER so anybody that is still playing this add me and send me a message whenever you wanna play. Right now I am into BF3 real bad but still occasionally play MAG. Got some other SVER buddies I play with as well. Also if TG has a clan in MAG I would like to know about it.
Also, one of the reason why MAG can have 256 players with little lag compared to other console games is Sony limits the bandwidth for game designers, since Zipper Interactive is a small company of Sony's they lifted the bandwidth limit.

What is MAG all about? Is the game style like COD MW series or is it more like BF2 PR and ARMA I & II?
