Folding @ Home
Anyone contributing?
Should we set up a TG team?
Do or do not, there is no try....

Re: Folding @ Home
After folding for HardOCP for many years I have switched both PCs to TG.

The results are coming in slow

PS3 is quite impressively pumping away the WUs. I am on my way to submitting my own first WU, but it takes forever. Like a couple days. So leave your machines on over night!Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400

Re: Folding @ Home
It was originally developed for PCs years ago. The PS3 is new to the party, but since the folding software on the PS3 is optimized for it's unique processor, and the processor is quite powerful, a single PS3 cranks through much quicker than a PC. The PC software is written to accommodate many different types of CPUs, both single core and multi-core.
For comparison, while my PC isn't state of the art, it's not to shabby either - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ at 2 GHz.|TG|MeleeClear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!

Re: Folding @ Home
Yeah, I was just wondering if you guys wanted PC's folding on your team, or if you just wanted to keep it a PS3 "only" score.

Re: Folding @ Home
I think we can all agree that having PCs help out would be a tremendous help.
As for the PS3, I've never turn mine off, I set the Auto-Start to 10 minutes. I have left my PS3 on for about 2 or 3 weeks straight and only turn off the controller. I keep the PS3 vertical and have had no heat related issues

Re: Folding @ Home
My first result is in 500 points, which puts my Opteron 170 a couple days behind Melee. I hope San Diego gets a power outage so that I can pull in front of him. Norcal yeah!
Sirusblk - why don't you join the TG team #78445?
One more thing: at http://sfbayacm.org/events/2007-06-20.php you can find a presentation on the technology.Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400
