Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
Ok, I have had the PS3 for about 3 or 4 weeks now and so far love it. There are only a few things I have noticed myself that I don't care much for and they are not directly related to the PS3. First off, I went and bought a keyboard recently so I could at least check email and get on the TG forums and look around. I am having issues with using the PS3 on certain forums it seems like it gets locked on a page and when it gets locked, I mean I have to shut down the PS3 to do ANYTHING. Thought maybe it was losing connection but checked on that and it was ok. I have no clue what it could be. Also, typing messages or emails I can only send so much then it stops, I figured it probably had something to do with memory of the PS3, I would think it needs to store that information till it can actually place it in the post, reply, or email.
The other issue is I don't have a HDTV YET!!! Plan on getting one shortly(knock on wood). Playing on a regular TV sucks.
For anybody that may be interested my PSN is: msdz2000
EDIT:
The games that I have so far are:
Motorstorm
Oblivion
The Darkness
Playing a friends game of Blazing Angels II: Secret Missions of WWIILast edited by msdz; 02-22-2008 at 12:08 AM.

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
Holy hell! Yes, definitely get a HDTV and preferably a surround sound system that will handle DTS, at least 5.1. They make all the difference in the experience. For what it's worth, I got a 42" Samsung DLP rear projection HDTV for about $1400 about a year ago and it looks amazing. Be sure to get a HDMI cable when you get the TV to hook up the PS3 properly.
Another tidbit, my Motorola M500 bluetooth ear piece that I had for my cellphone will connect and register with my PS3. I'm amazed at how versatile the PS3 is compared to the 360. You would think that the PS3 was made by a company like Microsoft seeing as it's so PC like.

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
Yep HDTV if you can would be great, and the bigger the better.
And also, could I direct you to my earlier post about some good games.
The Darkness - A decent FPS game, with a nice twist, but games like CoD4 will give you a much better FPS experience, especially online.
Blazing Angels - I love flying games on consoles, Ace Combat Squadron Leader was all I could play for about 2 months straight. Blazing Angels is apparently a decent flying game, and I don't think there are many other flying games out there at the moment, so if you like the genre, may as well go for this one.
Edit: P.S. I recommend that you don't buy Assassin's Creed until you get a HDTV. I mean seriously, the stunning graphics and atmosphere that those graphics create is half the charm of the game.Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

I play on my computer monitor. 1080p in all 26 inches!

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
Heh, never thought of that actually
.
Edit: I know that TVs are measured from the actual frame of the box of one corner to the other, not just the screen part, but what about monitors?Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
Mine is about 22 1/2 including frame, and about 17 inches for my screen alone. It's a pretty flat screen, but I'm not sure what material it is...

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
The playstation's browser pretty much sucks in my opinion. It's slow, inefficient and seemingly at times just not user friendly. I can use my iPod Touch and navigate faster. The real bothersome thing is that I can't access my hard drive when I'm on the internet, unless it's thru the playstation store. It's hard enough getting UT3 mods onto my Playstation3.

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
I haven't seen anything on that scale. I heard also that sound files are completely out of the question for some reason, so I doubt whole mods are possible.
I have seen mods like color correction (gets rid of the 30% desaturation). Over the shoulder camera, new maps. So think of mods as small mods not full on conversions using the engine.

no...at least a year ago they didn't. I dont know if they started throwing them in or not. Just pick up a cheap cable online.

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
No, at least not the 80gig version I bought in February. I would caution you to get a good quality HDMI cable. The cheap ones do not seem to deliver the same picture and sound quality as the better ones.
On a side note, I received an email today from Sony that said the DualShock controllers are now available.

Re: So. I got a PlayStation 3.
I have to disagree. I went with a monster cable when I first got my hdtv and bought a much cheaper hdmi cable when I got my ps3 last year and have not noticed any difference in quality.
