Snipor. I dont want to be hars. but iSnipors are the best teamplayers allways getting the objectives done. Never opsessed with k/d and always ready for better good with the expence of their personal score. Or was it some other class... Cant remember. ("smile" to tell you that what i wrote is partly joke and my words doesnt have to be taken too seriously)

I remember the game you mean. You and I had mentioned it in the lobby afterwards. We had a maybe 5-man squad at Sakhe with an RP 200m to the east of it, behind rocks. We were coordinating with the other squads and they were attacking North Gate while we held Sakhe for them. I think we had guys got shot maybe 6 times, including myself. Half of the time we were able to drag them away from the doors/windows and heal them up. We didn't have any long rifles on us. You were certainly more skilled than the average long shooter. But because you were on your own and the only enemy unit at that objective, I told our squad to just try avoid exposing themselves to the South because we retained an RP and you would have to come down from the hills into the objective radius if you wanted to capture it anyway - which you didn't. So we managed to achieve our objective despite the terror and on that occasion I would have described you as an annoyance not an obstruction ;P
You should do some squad-leading again mate. There's always a shortage of squad-leaders.

That was me. I knew you were out there, but the target was too tempting. An FO truck or squad filled vehicle is a big prize, worth the risk of having one's brains spattered over the street. Unfortunately of course, my bet didn't pay off. The truck turned round a corner before i could get line of sight, and we heard bluefor chat confirming he was picking up some comrades. I poked my head out again once I heard the engine restart, hoping it would return to the road I had eyes on, and BOOM. Headshot.

Ultimately, the sniper is a just another powerful tool in the team's arsenal to use when the time is right.
As I treat the sniper kit for what it is -- a lone-wolf/or sniper-spotter team giving intel via recon, calling for mortar and air support, and targeting high-priority infantry, ultimately suppressing the advance of infantry squads, yes, I would consider myself "kill-obsessed" since that is my obvious upper-hand. I place myself strategically to assist in the elimination of enemy forces at or near an objective or high-value area and the reconnoiter of surrounding areas. No other role except maybe CAS roles can single-handedly halt or delay the movement of an enemy infantry squad -- none, not even armoured vehicles.
Playing a sniper requires a great deal of finesse that I think is really unparalleled, and the experience of playing a sniper in PR:AA is one of the most realistic -- I daresay THE most -- experiences you'll have. 1400m killshots are difficult with 3 second bullet travel time, so leading your target becomes nothing short of an art form. Moving undetected while fewer than 10metres from an enemy and remaining hidden is equally difficult and I feel deserves to be commended and, again, requires a level of finesse and decision-making you don't see in other roles. Finding a good hide and remaining there, knowing when your position is/isn't compromised, when to shoot and move, when to move and shoot, knowing where the sun/moon is in relation to you and how it affects your visibility, painstakingly moving to a firing position without skylining yourself or exposing yourself to enemy fire, all of that is not "easy" especially in a game with 30 bad guys looking constantly for you and there's a helluva lot more of them than you. Keeping all that in mind and still playing as a team-player is a challenge.
Don't ever let the incompetencies of many discount your opinions of the few.

When people aren't all in locked squads, I happily FT/SL with great results. Just keep an eye out for the silly squad names. Giraffe, Nugget, Sparky, Sneaky... :3

Personally I find sniping in PR Arma, on the few occasions I have been able to give it a try satisfying if easy. Very hard to get a crack at it though as a lot of people who consider themselves exceptionally skilled will take the kit every round. I have plenty of experience sniping in PR BF, game is more compact but the principles are much the same. Plus I would usually try and shoot at the limits of the game engine ie 1000m on some maps. Having tried it in both Arma and PR Arma I have to say the obvious power of the Arma engine and more realistic (sort of) ballistic actually make it more logical once you understand the basics.
To be fair shooting at distance in PR Arma is pretty easy, a basic scoped assault rifle can reach out a very long way with a little practice.
As to staying hidden on a potential 10k map, decent location selection with an understanding of the terrain, your opponent's disposition and your egress route should allow a small dot on a large map to stay hidden for a good while.
Shooting at moving targets at 1500m, achievable yes, advisable, not really when you weigh up percentages and potentially increased shot frequency coupled with the far more dangerous increase in audio sign caused by the long gun.
Still your view of the role as requiring more finesse and better decision making than any other is your own and not one I share, having SL'd and carried out many others for years. It requires some skill and judgement to do well like any other role, but I would hate to feed the often ego driven 'leet' ethos, there is enough of that floating about as it is and its not an outlook I would like to thrive here.
Still we should return to the topic at hand, ie, the actual gameplay of the event.
Whoa, never seen that medical treatment text thing before. What's that from? Never actually had the option to CPR before - is that if you get to someone while they're dead, but before they respawn, or something?

I wish I had a definitive answer for you, but here's what the PR manual says about it.
Taken from the Project Reality: ArmA 2 v0.1 manual, pg.12, section 7 titled "Medic class [sic]":
The Medic is the only class that can completely heal a wounded soldier. For this he uses the same assets like the rest of the players, Field dressing, Morphine and
Adrenaline. Additionally he is able to perform CPR to save lives. The Medic uses the same First aid procedure described above. He may also collect & carry a Medic backpack which contains additional medic supplies and can supply team mates with it.
It's unclear in the manual whether or not the person has the "death countdown" or if he's just staring at the sky before he "dies". Either way (saving a person from bleeding out or restoring a ticket through nullification of the death countdown) would technically be saving a life.
The one time I've been able to administer CPR, I can't remember if I was Medic or not, the person was able to still speak with me so it wasn't quite clear what state he was in yet. Hope this helps a little, Athanasa.

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:
