Shotguns to the head will kill in one hit. To the body sometimes takes two. Plus you don't need to be as accurate to at least damage the other player.

Re: Any combat tips?
Yes, but don't get me wrong, you aren't going to see teams of Engineers storming bases. You have to get fairly close to get the full effect and the pump actions fire slowly. Mostly you can defend yourself if someone comes around the corner of a tank or wall.

Re: Any combat tips?
Well, I said a while ago that the support class was useless outside of the ammo bag. I still think that to a large degree, but I've started playing support as a SL now and I've tuned things up a little. Here's what I've found.
Faction difference (stock guns, not unlocked)
---------------------------------------------
USMC: High ammo, moderate accuracy, moderate damage
MEC: Moderate ammo, low accuracy, high damage
CHI: Low ammo, high accuracy, moderate damage
Keep in mind that the accuracy rates are in relation to a big gun that has lots of kick; I would say that even with high accuracy it's at best a 50% hit rate.
How to use the support gun if you want to actually kill people:
-Always be prone with the USMC and MEC support gun; the CHI gun is "okay" when kneeling, but none of the guns are worth spit while standing.
-The controlled burst discipline that is used for all other guns is worthless here; the value of a support gun is volume of fire.
-Treat the use of the support gun almost like artillery; one person is a waste, a group of people is an opportunity.
-The support gun is a close/medium range cover fire weapon. If the target you're shooting at isn't at least marginally bigger than your "calm" crosshairs, you're not going to hit.
-The support gun is ideal for covering narrow or closed-in areas such as alleys or doorways, but lacks value against a target in the open field.
Finally, if you're going to be in a close quarters combat situation, you're better off using your pistol. It actually packs a mean punch, and you're much more likely to hit a target 2m away with that than with your huge machine gun (defies logic, but oh well).
Someone else asked about armor values. From what I can tell, it's either an all or nothing thing. Either the job has armor, or it doesn't.

Re: Any combat tips?
THANKS Smoking Tarpan. That answered ALOT of questions. I appreciate it. Here's a few more questions I had about each kit:
Sniper = What's your best advice on aiming. Is there a lot of bullet drop. Also, I think it's the MEC sniper, the crosshair is a V. How the heck are you supposed to aim with that??? And, do the sniper's claymores blow up tanks, and other vehicles pretty efficiently?
Assault = Has anyone found out the science about aiming with the grenade launcher?
What's the significant use of the smoke grenades?
Pistols = Do they really do alot of good, and is there a significant difference in pistols?
I know there are alot of questions, but I'M DESPERATE to know. Thanks everyone.

Re: Any combat tips?
I'm not a sniper, but it's been said that the aim is pretty much laser-precise; i.e. no bullet drop. Not sure about the MEC gun, but the claymores are anti-personnel, not anti-vehicle. I don't think they even go off if a vehicle goes by.

I'm making an assumption that the heavier classes (Support, Assualt) have heavier pistols, but I have no real idea. For certain, the pistols for SpecOps and Snipers are definitely weaker than the other pistols due to the silencers. And yes, pistols are good. I've lost count of how many times I won a fight in close quarters because my target and I both emptied our rifle clips, but he stopped to reload while I switched to my pistol.Pistols = Do they really do alot of good, and is there a significant difference in pistols?

Re: Any combat tips?
I've never tried it, but I'm assuming a smoke grenade on a wounded soldier would be good cover for the medic to run out an heal him. Smokes as distractions would be good too. Shift the enemies' eyes to the cloud while you open fire from somewhere else completely
General Combat tips: Always engage from different angles, esp if fighting multiple guys, move to different alleyways and such. Make it so you have lots of "first shot" opportunities.
One thing, I've seen it over and over DONT GO PRONE IN THE MIDDLE OF A STREET. Seriously, go for some cover, like a street CORNER
As for the pistol, I find it's WAY more effective when using the ironsights. And it makes almost no difference when prone vs standing/crouching. Aim for the head, but try not to spam the clip like I always do, or you'll be caught reloading all the time.--JP

Ironsights?? Is that when you press the right mouse button (default) and aim through the ACTUAL gun sight, rather than the magical yellow crosshairs?

Re: Any combat tips?
I use the smoke grenade quite a bit. It disorients the enemy, provides cover, provides a distraction, etc. If we are being rushed, I'll toss one at the advancing squads. It's easier to hit them coming out of the smoke while they are disoriented.

Yeah, that's what the ironsights are.

Re: Any combat tips?
The name will appear if you happen to rest your sights on an enemy in a smoke cloud. I've managed one or two tank kills with the SRAW this way, but that's a pretty big target and he wasn't smart enough to drop smoke AND move.
