Discussion: PR:BF2 / PR:BF2 - Tactics & SOPs - C-Team Barrack - All Tactical Gamers who are interested in C-Team type of "very organized and coordinated, military-role-playing"
All Tactical Gamers who are interested in C-Team type of "very organized and coordinated, military-role-playing" gameplay...
Thanks for your interest in joining C-Team ! There are so many things to do and so little time, I will come to the point fast.
Teaming up with you and others who are going to join us, I want to help establishing a very organized and coordinated group of players in time. But right now I am simply overwhelmed... Plans, strategies, SOPs, projects, PMs... I spent a whole weekend on these and played only 1 hour. I neglected work and worse than that I neglected wife !
So I need to slow down I will make a priority list, request help from volunteered squad members and slowly but firmly help building this thing. This might be the last pm I am sending you guys for a while. I will keep in contact using the C-Team Barrack topic.
In time, we will have a great squad operating system and meeting schedule. Until then you can meet other C-Team players by using Teamspeak/Battlefield 2/C-Team channel and I will always post a briefing message (list of things such as procedures, tactics, etc that we can try that day) in C-Team Barrack before I join you guys...
Please always feel free to express your ideas and take an active role in this effort.
Great gaming days are ahead of us, you all take care...

No problem, I'll dig up the discussions 46&2 had about Teamspeak communication from our archive and clean it up to make it relevant to BF2 (Teamspeak integrated with VOIP). I'll post it here so we can all modify it as necessary.

Okay, DAMN. Tonight was absolutely nuts. I don't think we were really able to settle down until the end, when it was just three of us defending a corner flag on Mashtuur City. Lots of chaos tonight.
It didn't sound like the Teamspeak/VOIP idea worked out too well. Probably this is something to hold off on for a bit until we've got our squad SOP worked out.
I was thinking about concentrating on map tactics instead. For those times when a Commander isn't present, or if one is present but not giving orders, maybe we could pick a primary and secondary flag for each map and work out some strategies for them. I threw this together the other night after we held the Control Center flag on Operation Clean Sweep 64:
C-Team held this point for a large part of the round, and it was a lot of fun. I made this map from memory as best I could remember. I'm not sure if there was a Medic or not, and if there wasn't, I'm pretty sure there was another AntiArmor there instead. I've placed the defensive positions of the various classes (bright green dots) on the map roughly in the spots where we played them, and this seemed to work pretty well for us. We defended the area in the translucent green elipse for the most part, with some units pushing out further to scout occasionally. It wasn't until the end of the round that we lost the flag.
Maybe we could come up with some strategies for attacking/defending a couple of flags like this on each map, and then just practice those for a while until we get our squad SOP worked out.
What a nightmare... After days of planning, almost everthing went down the drain ! Here is my report:
- it was simply impossible for me to get hold of three active radio channels (commander, squad and teamspeak). It was so hard to follow who is saying what. after sometime my chip burnt ! I wasnt able to respond to anyone...
let alone coordinating air/ground units, I wasnt able to coordinate my own squad members...
listening and using radio channels, checking the map and working on tactics, communicating with the commander and while doing all this also playing the game... I couldnt do it guys I simply couldnt...
I lost my ability to think and speak after a while. At one time, I drove the transport to one of our own flags and ordered my teammates to attack the flag. pathetic ...
I feel terrible for letting everyone down...
I thank everyone for coming tonight and please accept my apologies for not being able to deliver what I promised.
I forgot the number one rule: KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID !
Can, you did a great job. Don't get down on yourself.
You're right, let's get back to basics and just work on pure tactics for the SOP. Maybe we can lay out some canned strategies for some flags and work with those. With a little practice, we could get to the point where, when we arrived at a flag, you could just say "disperse" and we'd all know where to go and what to do. Defense is easier to start with, so maybe on Thursday night we could call the squad "C-Team Defense" or something similar and just work on that.
dont worry about it...im sure its always hard getting used to. It was fun playing with you while I was on the same team. But other than that..im sure you have trouble cause I was the commander of the opposite team
I guess I tried to go to Moon without inventing the wheel ...thanks for the kind words though...
totally agree with you. lets take small steps. simple procedures. they worked before and we had great fun...also agree that we should work on 1-2 flags until we are all comfortable with a simple/working SOP... I am writing this down not to forget.
really nice work on that operation clean sweep scheme... ahhh, it is a sweet memory that night

yep, we learnt what didnt work tonight, now we are closer to find what will work next time...
always nice to play with you Drunken... do us a favor and for the sake of old times dont be an enemy commander next time ok?
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
