Re: Medic!!
I'm more aggressive then most Medics as I generally go for the revive before securing the area. I always prefer to have that friendlies gun back in the action. I've started to perfect a sprint, prone, revive, drop medkit, and sprint technique that is really hard for anything but a tank shell to kill. The medkit also generally ensures that the revived soldier has enough time to find cover as well.
My opinion on risking my life is:
1. I'm successful in surviving 75% of the time anyway
2. I'm successful in reviving ~60%
Therefore, I've saved my team a net of 35% in ticket loss as well as provided the area with another friendly that much sooner. If he gets killed again, I've usually already found cover and will do my mad dash again.
I always prioritize based on the attacker. If a tank just rolled into a position, I will risk losing the SL in favor of trying to revive the AT first then the SL. After that I always go with my SL first, then any other SL around, then my guys in order of their contribution to the current threat and/or my safety in reviving them.
Always always always toss extra medi bags in 2-3 corners where your defenders will most likely find them. You do risk an enemy using them, but your troops will use them far more often.
Medics shouldn't also overlook the ability to run, repair and kill. More times then not I've been in a confrontation I'm going to lose, ducked around the corner dropped a medkit for myself and then come back around blazing at full-health.|TG-12th| SHINER

Re: Medic!!
answering the questions...
***What do you do on defense?***
zoom mini-map in and determine where my squadies are setting up overwatch. hand deliver medpacks to all sentries and snipers. switch to singleshot and take up overwatch at an unmanned position. offer to take the jeep on close-range recon / mobile healing. spot all targets before engaging. keep an eye out for all nearby SL's. dream of the Enfield Bullpup (at least on the TG servers).
***What do you do on offense?***
Request that orders be updated often. Determine if I will be the primary healer or not, two healers can perform the MedPack Leapfrog tactic by putting the secondary Medic on point and having him push forward to well-covered areas and dropping MedPacks before the Squad advances, making their way to the newly created MPS (MedPackStation). Once stable, repeat by pushing forward and dropping MedPacks. This is a hugely successful tactic as everyone will use the advancing MedPack stations as makeshift waypoints! The primary healer will revive the 2nd if needed and the 2nd, as point, can heal himself if in a bind. Or both healers can alternate point... advancing the MedPack stations even faster! This tactic works very nicely on 16-player maps. As SL, I've taught several medics to establish MPS at forward positions as pointman and the medics all admitted to enjoying the pre-emptive approach to combat healing!
***Do you let your squad die and stay on your SL?***
If the SL is a rambo-type, there may be no hope saving him/her. If the SL is the skulking-type then he/she might not need a medic at all. If the SL orders me to stick to him, I stick to him. If the SL doesnt micromanage, I revive everyone within logical range. As medic, you simply cant afford to begin fearing bullets.
***When do your tactics differ?***
Tactics are liquid in nature. Your SL is the ever-changing container and your CO the Ice-cooler keeping all containers chill in the summer sun. Your SL can only hold the liquid, it's up to every single squadmember to ensure no drops are spilt.

Re: Medic!!
Wow. What a wealth of info here. I like the medic class, but soince I don't play all that much, I haven't really learned all these nuances and strategic values (duh.. of course reviving saves a ticket!) 'm still in the old JO school of medic... fix em if ya can.
Now I have some solid groundwork to play this class from.

Re: Medic!!
I was just amused by the thought of the "tactic" medics use on public servers. They teamkill and then revive, lol. I'm assuming just to inflate their score...
Anyway, great info in this thread. When I'm ground assault I kill the opposing medic at all costs.

Re: Medic!!
Also don't forget that a medic can see downed team mates in the form of the little lightning icons on his minimap.
This gives a heads-up on where the action is, information an SL can definitely use, as dead team mates to everyone else only get noticed either by direct visual (corpse) or by peering at the minimap and actualling seeing the dot die out.
