Re: Up in smoke
When you hear the jet, it's too late. He's got you lined up, and the smoke won't help :-(

Re: Up in smoke
I think EA might have lowered the amount of smoke grenades, since I think they were thinking the following:
The smoke grenade takes a lot of CPU, especially on slower comps, have 5 or 6 of these could really cause trouble
EA assumed assault would be the most used kit and thus, due to the CPU thing, they lowered it to 1.
Anyone who uses Assault quickly finds that a medic has the same weapon AND a med pack and shock paddles, and thus Assault is not used a lot, maybe EA will fix it.
Smoke can really help, if I get Assault kit I use it on flags or simply ON the enemy defending a flag, after which a normal grenade works miracles

Re: Up in smoke
I hadn't thought of that! Toss the smoke, have your buddy toss in a couple frags, and then the defenders are in a real pickle. I know when I hear that grenade land near me my first instinct is to run. You then become easy pickings coming out of the smoke.

You would be popular with the Aussies. I hear they go wacko for Nads.

Re: Up in smoke
Has anyone tried using a smoke grenade to try and have a mate SpecOps plant c4 under cover? (on a tank for example)

Re: Up in smoke
I like to use the smoke grenade on FuShe Pass or Kurba Dam at a flag with a sewer/well or something like that near it.
I just throw the smoke grenade, crawl down, wait a few minutes and crawl back up and get the flag

Re: Up in smoke
in real life, abrams tanks (and i assume all other us armor) can literally burn diesel to create a cloud of smoke billowing from behind it. its not a giant afro poof like it is in bf2, its just a huge cloud that travels behind the vehicle.
while i assume the comment on cpu raping is probably correct, it would be cool to see the continual release method as is reality.
but yeah, either more smokes, or a longer hang time and larger dispersal, maybe with a good wind drift (like the purple/orange target smokes)

Re: Up in smoke
in karkand i was C4ing the bridge and i told a guy in my squad to smoke the bridge (a vodnik gunner was looking at the bridge). The smoke cleared everything, i set my 3 C4 quickly and BOOM.

Re: Up in smoke
Its a shame the medic class doesn't have a smoke grenade. I could see that being really useful in a lot of situations. Right now it would be pretty hard to coordinate with someone playing assault class to give you cover while trying to get to a downed squad leader. While I don't like the idea of giving up my regular 'nades, I think if the medics grenades were replaced with smoke grenades it would balance that class out better.

Re: Up in smoke
I think communicating with the Assualt guy over VOIP is exactly what you should be doing, the medic who can provide his own cover is a problem. I do think that at the very least the smoke should last a little longer though. Ideally the smoke should last 15 seconds or so and you should get 2 of them.
