Lock-tone matrix (what causes lock-tone?)
This is a work in progress. Some of these items have been researched and confirmed.
If you get a chance, try to confirm one of the unkown scenarios. Please be ABSOLUTELY SURE of your results.
A matrix of shooters vs targets, and whether the target will get a lock tone warning:Last edited by StrikeFear; 08-04-2005 at 01:31 PM. Reason: Updated the chart

Re: Lock-tone matrix (what causes lock-tone?)
the jet to jet should be changed from NA to lock tone...because one jet can lock on to another....im assuming IAT is Infantry Anti Tank? IM almost 99% sure that the tank (shooter) and the jet (target) perform no lock tone

Re: Lock-tone matrix (what causes lock-tone?)
What about fixed AA and fixed AT?
I'm also curious about when you get lock tone from IAT. Is it only when he has the rocket equipped? Does it sound only when he is pointed at the target with rkt? Does it sound only when he is zoomed on the target with rkt?
Someone suggested to me that firing while not aimed at the vehicle and then correcting at the end will prevent them from getting any warning, but I don't know if this is true.

Re: Lock-tone matrix (what causes lock-tone?)
Updated the chart.
1. Includes an index
2. Changed Jet to Bomber
3. Specifies weapons used as shooter
4. Added fixed emplacements
icky - Yes, IAT, holding launcher, LOOKING at a vehicle causes a lock-tone, zoomed or not.
A lot of this stuff, we can all pretty much guess what's gonna happen. But I really want this chart to be authoritative, having absolutely confirmed each case.
DrunkenSoul - I'm specifying the Bomber's Air to ground missiles (of course AA missiles give lock tone), so Bomber's can't target other bomber's in this case."You live and learn. Or you don't live long."

Re: Lock-tone matrix (what causes lock-tone?)
As of right now, the chart shows a blank square there (vs a HELO) - meaning we don't have confirmed data on that scenario.

Yeah, it got corrupted, like many player's avatars.
Here it is again, with some updates:"You live and learn. Or you don't live long."
