Re: Collection of in-game facts
I'll just throw in some of my opinions and in game knowledge:
AA missles work as strike fear says. You have to LOCK first to do anything. Just shooting them without lock at an enemy or friendly will NOT result in them "acquiring" the heat source and flying towards it.
I found out how the helo gunner bug worked one day by accident. A friend and I had our two computers side by side (we could see each others screens.) I had created a server on my lan and he joined. I was flying and he was gunning against some bots, and I was watching him shoot them PERFECTLY on his screen and not getting any kills. Well low and behold on my screen (the server) his stream of fire was a good 3 inches of monitor space to the left of where he was aiming on his screen. By looking at my monitor for reference he could actually start killing enemies just by aiming far to the right of the target on his screen.
So there you go.
I'm 99% percent positive bullet drop does not exist in this game. 1. it was stated in an interview with a developer that there was, in fact none. 2. What many people don't realize is there is a built in bullet deviation in the game which is often misunderstood to be drop.
If you have your crosshair (on any gun) directly on a target, the bullet will not always be perfectly accurate.

Re: Collection of in-game facts
Bullet drop is in game.
Watch the AA gun on the Essex fire. If you follow the path of the tracers using a sniper's scope you can clearly see that the bullets do indeed drop. On Dalian we did this and were getting hits and kill (note: singular) on the nearest beach base.

What does a chopper gunner see?
For the MEC chopper, the gunner view is slightly below and to the left of the pilot's view.
The AH-1 Cobra's gunner view is exactly the same, but on the right instead of the left.
Attached below are images from the MEC chopper (photography courtesy of perry

Re: Collection of in-game facts
I don't know why this happens and I've tested it out by myself and it doesn't happen but here are some facts:
Total number of attack choppers I've tried to down with U.S. Assault Rifle - 5
Total number of attack choppers I've downed with U.S. Assault Rifle - 3
The first one was completely healed (I know this because I watched it go back to it's base and heal) I was on the hill facing the mec ucb at the construction yard on oman. It came back and I was about three feet away from it, I fired 1 burst from my assault rifle and it exploded.
The second one was on kubra dam, I continually fired about 2 clips on it. IT was fine at first and eventually started smoking and then blew up. I couldn't see anything else firing on it.
Same story with the 3rd one.
I created a local server to test this out and the only damage a full clip from an assault rifle did to an empty cobra was barely one blip of health. Now, this might prove this untrue but I think if someone was in the cobra it would eventually blow up.
This could be completely false and have other factors I haven't seen go into the destruction of the attack chopper but all I know is that I keep on firing on them and they keep on getting damaged.

Re: Collection of in-game facts
this isn't a statement of fact, merely an inquiry...
when you toss a grenade and then die before it detonates, it NEVER explodes, is that correct??
i've been trying this out...a couple of times on Karkaand i've been surrounded by baddies and pop a grenade...not even throwing it...just dropping it at my feet. i hear the "clink" of it hitting the ground but after i'm inevitably mowed down, i never hear any sort of detonation or notice that i've killed so-and-so.
i'm re-reading this list of in game facts and i thought i had read it at one time but...
does C4 stick to people?? it would be a great feature if it did...loading up a "voluteer" from your squad with the stuff...have him run into an area full of hostiles...and once he gives the signal, the spec op guy works the clacker. heck, the suicide bomber could already be dead...so long as the spec ops guy is still alive. i would have to say this isn't possible or we'd have seen it already, but can anyone confirm or deny???

Re: Collection of in-game facts
correct about the nades, its disapointing because i used to get so many kills in COD by being shot with the pin pulled ready to throw, it only detonates if its physically left your hand before you go down, as for the c4, it isnt possible (to my knowledge) though its easy to find out

Hidden Chopper Pads on Daqing
Beyond the chopper pads at the main flags, there are 3 chopper LZ pads. One at the East Oilfields (Chopper spawns there), One at the Old City and one at the Refinery. I assume no one knows about this as no one ever uses them.

Re: Collection of in-game facts
I tested how much damage the .50 cal does on the Blackhawk. It take 2 overheat cycles in the armor but less than one if you only hit the cocpit windows. I also tested the AT on the rubber wheel and it only take one shot to kill it. To test it I started a empty server and lifted the BH away from the helipad so it wouldn't self repair.

Re: Collection of in-game facts
I have a question about personal class armor. If you spawn as something like AT and then pick up a Medic kit, do you keep the AT armor or get the armor of the Medic?

Re: Collection of in-game facts
Because you are changing kits the armor changes as well.
Speaking of AT, I killed a tank with one shot lastnight. I was on a building in Karkand in the CP North of the Hotel. Tank goes rolling by underneath me and stops
. The hatch was open and I put a rocket inside. Next thing I know the tank 'splodes! Becuase the tank came from USMC UCB and the Hotel was unopposed and in USMC hands at that point, I am assuming that the tank had no prior damage.

Re: Collection of in-game facts
It could have taken arty damage. I thought it was confirmed that you had to hit the cupola ring, not the actual hatch? Maybe that is where you hit.

Sniper Bullet Drop:
It exists, you need to aim a pixel or two above the target at ranges where the target's head is preatty much a pixel or two itself. This is with M24 since the other sniper rifles are so inaccurate at those ranges you might as well aim anywhere near center of the target and pray.
[edit]
This is for flat trajectories, the higher you angle of attack the less compensation you need of course.

Re: Collection of in-game facts
I tested the tank. It definitely takes two kits on the hatch. I don't know about the cuppola ring.
