C4/Mine Traps
Hey all;
I'm curious to see what you guys think is the best way to conteract the dasdardly ploy of setting mines and/or C4 just over the crest of a hill.
After some thought, I only have a few, perhaps rather obvious solutions.
1) go slowly - make sure it's clear before charging ahead. This can be a death knell for an APC on a steep hill.
2) topside gunner/lookout - someone with a better vantage point (HUMVEE gunners and the like) can call a warning before the hapless driver & crew are immersed in a fiery death.
3) infantry escort/recon - have some infantry who ride in the vehicle to hop out and move up to check
4) veer off to the side of the road - the middle of the road is always well-attended to by the trap-layer. Cresting the hill in a spot that isn't normally expected ups your survival chances significantly.
Any other ideas out there?

Assume good faith - Be polite, please! - Work toward agreement. - Argue facts, not personalities. - Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree based on intuition or taste. - Be civil. - Be prepared to apologize. In animated discussions, we often say things we later wish we hadn't. Say so. - Forgive and forget. - Recognize your own biases and keep them in check. - Give praise when due.

Re: C4/Mine Traps
When I am driving a vehicle from point A to point B I use the third person camera angle. Makes it easier to see obstacles and enemy. I toggle back to first person when I get closer to the objective or in "danger land".
You can also have a passenger do this for you but that will take away some firepower and the information will take an extra second or two to get to you."Umm Deputy these aren't my pants" - Common alarm cry of the North American Crackhead

Re: C4/Mine Traps
I usually avoid the roads all together. On most of the maps, they're just a different texture covering one part of the ground it seems. No real benefit to using them. If the road is the only way to go, I drive slower, since I'm watching for the ambush anyway.

Re: C4/Mine Traps
Be warned. Some people (no names) like to place a mine in the middle of the road for those in 3rd person view. Then have lying in wait C4 lining the roadsides prior to the mine. Usually the person stops for the mine and BOOM or keeps going and BOOM! You have been warned....

In the pursuit of... something.

Re: C4/Mine Traps
There are fewer things more enjoyable than a sucessful c4/mine trap. The only thing better is a c4/mine trap working on the same person twice.

Ah the mines and c4. Turbo and I did a thing with both of them. Wait for the surprise in battle.
