Re: Real Life Army-Sized Squads
Same as real life, Squad leader controlling two, 4-man fire teams. Difference would be fire-team composition which would vary depending on mission. Real life (Army) infantry fire team had Team ldr, SAW gunner, M203 grenadier and rifleman. Snipers, Medics and AT tms were normally a Battalion asset but could be pushed down to a rifle squad if mission called for it (not likely though).

Re: Real Life Army-Sized Squads
That sounds good, except that the game doesn't support that. A third party comm app would have to be used (like Teamspeak). I think that the 1st MIP is doing something very similar to this.

Personally, for the game, I think that the flexibility of having a "squad leader" for every fireteam is much more powerful for the commander that knows how to use them. I think that the game is simply too limiting in many ways to try to ascribe all the attributes of a real-life rifle squad to it...Become a supporting member!

Google is your friend. I just searched for "Marine rifle squad" and it popped up in the first few results...

Re: Real Life Army-Sized Squads
iirc from my cadet days, a British squad (or section as we call them) comprises of 8 men. The section will split into 3 fireteams. You have 2 assault fireteams, which is led by the IC and 2IC (usually a corporal and lance corporal). The normal makup of these men is to all be equipped with the sa80. The remaining 2 men are equipped with LSW (light support weapon) which is a heavier modified version of the sa80 (and would fill the same role as a SAW etc). These 2 men form a 'gun group'. In a section attack each fireteam would advance upon the enemy, with the gun group providing suppressive fire but not moving.

Who carries the ammo for the "gun group"? Is the LSW belt fed?

You like the SA80? I shot in the Eastern Division Matches with some Royal Marines and they all said that it was a piece of poop.Become a supporting member!
