Re: Nade launcher tips
It wasn't until I played BF2 and saw this in action that I finally understood that line from Blackhawk Down. When the lead Delta Force guy is dodging RPGs with Grimsey(Ian McGregar) he says,"Stay away from the walls." I never got that because in all the games I played I hugged walls as cover. But I guys IRL, as in BF2 I guess, that makes you nade bait so it's best to stand away from walls and still arc around corners as cover, just from a distance.

Re: Nade launcher tips
That was also critical with tanks in BF1942.
IRL, the RPGs probably have bigger splash damage than BF2.

Re: Nade launcher tips
I can't hit the jeep everytime but I'm at like 70%. After using the nade launcher for awhile you start to get the feeling of the angle that you need. It's not precise at all and I don't look at the crosshair and calculate an angle, it's intuitive. If you truly wanted a precise angle calculation using the crosshair I don't think it would do you any good. If you're trying to hit a moving jeep there's only a short span of seconds in which you can accomplish it. Getting an exact calculation would be counter productive, I'm sorry to say but you have to rely on intuition to get those reaction times.

Re: Nade launcher tips
Amen to that. I hate it when you come running around a corner, and then some anus face meets you there with their nade launcher equiped and fire it at you at about 1 meter and end up taking themselves out with you. That's pretty productive. Or when some retard on your team takes you out along with someone else. I never punish for TK's no matter what, except for TK's from nade launchers. And after you punish them, they're like "WTF? Why'd you punish? You shouldn't have been in the way!" Well excuse me for not having ESP and not knowing your running around with the noob tube firing indiscriminitly at anything that moves. Try using your rifle once in a while. Or even if it's a "legitamate" kill from short-medium range, it's just a really cheap way to kill people. You see someone and think you're in for a good gun fight, but nope, a grenade lands a meter and a half away from you and you're dead without so much as a shot fire out of a rifle. Alright I'm done. I just hate the noob tube so much and needed to rant and get it out of my system.

Re: Nade launcher tips
I have fired an actual M203 and those are the same crosshairs IRL. Think of the M203 as artillary. In other words it is an indirect weapon that fires with an arc. Since that is the case, you have to figure by eyesight the range of a target. Then you raise the barrel by the angle necessary for the grenade to fall down onto the target. So in the game, you have to be able to determine distance. If you can master that, it is an awesome weapon. Ive made some fantastic shots with it, it can be a great long distance weapon if you can figure range. Too many people try to use it the same as the direct fire rifle or only as a close combat weapon (which you wouldnt do IRL).

Re: Nade launcher tips
You can't really say they're the same sights. The real leaf sight is marked up to ranges of 250 or 300 meters and works in conjunction with the front sight post. In game, it's just a few lines that are useless for anything out of arms length.

Say what you will. When using artillery, you do not sight in on your target unless your target is at a higher elevation from you. The longer the range, the higher the barrel, thus the barrel is between you and the target (you do not see the target if sighting down the barrel). Practice and learn how it works. The sights are a reference which have to be interpreted. If you cant interprete it, dont blame the sights.

Re: Nade launcher tips
I started using the cross-hair by lining up the bar that was the same width as the target with their shoulders. The opposite seems to happen at short range, I put the top bar at waist level or lower. I've since gotten good enough, that I only use the cross-hair as a horizontal reference and and do the vertical aim by feel. 64 player Karkand is an awesome place to practice as there are ammo bags all over the place. The one disadvantage of noob-tubing is your vulnerability if you miss or don't kill your target. If you live through a tubing, rush the guy before he can reload or change weapons. Knife him if you're close enough, otherwise just unload at short range. Most of the "noobs" you do this to will panic.

Re: Nade launcher tips
If I get n00b-t00bed one more time at first sight I'm going to scream. I think 90% my deaths on Sharqi were bunny hopped noob-toobs. One guy waited for the flag to go neutral, ran around the corner and one timed me on sight about three times that game.

If only they contact me and ask me to help them (DICE) when making crosshairs...
