Re: Advanced Squad Member Guide
After reading E-male's thoughts about how TG is evolving to the point where the professionalism starts to shine here
I would like to offer one more reminder to everybody else. Not all might have experienced the 2 fireteam organization in a squad. I have myself and it is sweet when done right.
When kit assignments are handed out make your SL job easy and form fireteams yourselves.
SLs might use the fireteams for different purposes like:
Suppress Team & Assault Team
or
Distraction & Flankers
Either way to normalize the procedure I would like to ask the Support guy to link up with Medic and form a fireteam who fights around and with the SL and may be AT, Assault, and medic to assault certain positions etc...
OFFENSE
On offence while assault is engaged in close quarters combat around the flag while they are turning the flag, suppress team can cover their back and put more pressure on enemy movements leaving them pinned allowing your assault team to turn the flag and clean the house.
DEFENSE
2 fireteams can be positioned at 2 different choke points, or once a threat is apparent one of the fireteam can be sent to flank the enemy squad advancing.
I am sure TG ers will grab this concept very quickly and offer the SL his chance to lead 2 fireteams rather than 5 elements.
So Go ahead. form those fireteams yourselves and tell the SL. Always follow and fight around your firebuddy. Your squad's performance will double.

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.

Re: Advanced Squad Member Guide
Playing on Tactical Gamer servers is a great experience because of the attention to SL and teamwork. I only wish there were more servers like it.
And, I've been in squads that were split up as you suggest, B. Maybe you were the SL.

Re: Advanced Squad Member Guide
Just came across this thread (many threads -- sometimes too many) -- will print and read the SL guide, as I am slowly writing one also.
Lots of good advice on taking the initiative here, which is important BUT everyone please keep in mind -- DO NOT take action without running it by the SL first -- It is very hard to manage a squad if everyone starts doing stuff without central direction from the SL -- NO MATTER HOW WELL INTENDED.
ORDERS must flow from the SL, suggestions from team members, BUT IT GETS VERY CHAOTIC if everyone starts doing there own thing (unless those things are clearly outlined in a team SOP, such as the case with the 1st-MIP).
Just my two cents, and not indended to be the last word either (as if that is possible...).
It is nice to see much thought and discussion on the issue of orders, SLing and obedience. Command and control will overcome a less disciplined foe.

Re: Advanced Squad Member Guide
For reference and to save you going over already covered material you can check tactical library. There are a few guides and some links in there for SL material. Which were collated from this forum.
