For the most part its the same as day one. Physics wise i havent really noticed any difference in the engine at all to be honest. As far as rifles go the M95 is a p.o.s. You're better off with the stock variety. And as before the M24 is king.

The best way to be successful is location, location, location -- which might account for some of the reason you are having some trouble. Everyone and their mother knows all the maps and the "traditional" sniping spots -- Hotels, cranes, cisterns etc etc. So if you're planted up there thats the first place theyre looking now-a-days and unless your a wiz at the shoot to kill before they get a shot off on you you probably wont be there all that long.

Once i get back online after moving hop into one of the sniper dedicated squads that lock at 3-- "snipe this" "snipe3max" etc and i can help you out with some stuff if you want. Others know the sniper role very well too like Mantis, Sordavie and Phoenixx. Theyre a good trio to work with and learn from as full time snipers.

yes. unless your shooting at insane distances like 300-400 m id say forget about it. Even then its minimial as 1 to 2 pixels up would be more than enough. The accuracy is also somewhat randomized, plus things like connection, lag, moving, settled all play games w/ your mind.

Re: Sniping: For God's Sake, Help!!!

as said above, staying out of sight and being in non obvious spots is the key...

Quite often I've had clear view of 3 enemys, but I dont shoot until I can pop the medic in the head, then I take bodyshots at the others...

The main key is staying out of sight and waiting for your clear shots... a headshot with any of the sniper weapons is a killer... as said above the M95 is strong but it loses on the accuracy... the m24 is my favored rifle just because with the auto sniper's if you hit a bodyshot the enemy often looks for you and kills you... but if you hit a bodyshot with an m24, they run for cover (and they are also an easy pistol kill)

I only dievate from this tactic when I'm in a squad of snipers and its ok to take bodyshots at enemys, because so is 3 other squad members so they fall faster then waiting for a headshot...

Also, claymores are very powerful if your teammates realise they are to be avoided... I've had many enjoyable games using claymores in a squad because the squad leader would tell me where he would like the claymores, therefore the rest of the squad knew where they were and to avoid them... doing things like throwing a claymore to block a choke point wont do you much good, because sure as anything one of your teammates will go rushing thru the choke and not see the death item...

Ok. I've learned 2 things today.

    1. Don't EVER use the M95

    2. jusb stated that the accuracy is randomized. To me, that meant regardless of how good you are, the random accuracy will always be an unmasterable factor of sniping. Therefore making LUCK a small part of sniping as well.

Did I receive you all correctly? If not, LMK where I'm off. Either way I GREATLY, and sincerely appreciate all of ya'lls help!!

the second one is kind of true. Luck is a big factor -- everyone has rounds that are on target and others where you are"off". Pretty much the key to sniping is to just do it a lot. The more you use the weapons, see the maps and play with the mechanics the better "feel" you'll have for what you're doing. The more you play the more "consistent" it will be for you. You'll know what shots you can make from where because of the repetition.

Also use the search function on the forum to find yourself some threads where we all discuss the ins and outs of sniping. Most are from spring/summer but there were some threads in there with info from all the better snipers detailing tactics, game mechanics, placement, location and in game engine variables that might be beneficial for anyone who wants to snipe well.

    Re: Sniper Tactics

I got a tip for snipers. DONT BE ONE! What a useless kit! lol When im CO i hate to see sniper squads on my team,id much rather have those people taking or defending flags. Or if its a 2 man squad make it an asset squad much more usefull in my opinion, especially against a good CO.
On top of the uselessness of the sniper sqaud they want supply drops every 5 mins,im sorry but im constantly droping supplys on armor if they are up,supplys for a sniper squad are on the bottom of my list as CO.
Sorry in advance to all the sniper fans out there

    Re: Sniper Tactics

Sniping, enjoyable when you have a good day, frustrating when your having an off day. Do it only when you think you will help. Like today, on the Great Wall map, i was SL defending an inner compound. Well, as they assaulted on the wall, because i was an ace with the rifle, they just got picked off one by one. I had a support lay down covering fire, and i just coordinated a defense while picking off enemy SLs and medics. We won, btw.
So, if your good, do it. If your not, you would be a better use to your team by being other kits.

There was to many snipers on great wall, it was terrible.

I think the svd is king at medium range since you can keep popping shots off fast, m24 is king at long range.

The EU sniper rifle is the best for just about any range I've found. I just have to remember to not run into my own claymores.

LMAO! I have used the M95 very effectively at SVD ranges, in which it rocks.
True, its not an M24, so dont use it as one. This weapon is awesome against all targets, 10 shots will take out a car, very lethal if you got a whole sniper squad with you.
Also, you can shoot people out of vehicles, trust me, nothing funnier then to shoot a hovering pilot just as the land/repair or cap a flag.

And M24 no longer reigns king, the L96A1 does, it has only half the deviation and the crosshairs are awesome.

    Re: Sniper Tactics

Some might call me... nontraditional in my aproach to sniping. I snipe with the squad, i attack with the squad, i engage at ranges of less than 25 feet with my rifle. Why do i always get top 5? One shot kills. For me, it doesn't matter if i am standing or crawling, at 250 yards or 25, put the crosshairs on the guys head, pull the trigger, and down he goes.
If you dont get that one shot kill, pull out the pistol and spray him with shots till he is down.
If you have the semis, shoot at the head, if you miss, body shots, 2 of em, double tap your mouse and they go down.

Everybody has their own style. I like to get into the thick of things. They cant really kill me with one shot, but i can kill them most of the time.

    P.S.
AIM FOR THE HEAD!!! (sry for caps) Even if you have a medic gun, or the ak-47, or the m-16, aim for the head and if you hit it, one shot and they go down. If your firing three round burst, aim for upper torso, fire, and recoil will always take you aim up to their eyes.
