I recommend you copy and paste the file (to create a backup), then change the extension to .txt which will identify it with notepad. After you make your changes and save, change the extension back to .con and voila.

    Good luck.
    Cool thanks a lot.

Wish I had something fast and agile though, BH is a might too slow for my tastes.
you should join my squad sometimes, whenever I play on Tg Im usually in a Blackhawk squad, thats all we do, of course people still like to light up infantry with those miniguns, so whenever I go high to get a jump goin, they all start saying to lower the altitude so they can get a few extras points.....

    Re: Airborne Infantry unit?

Hey, I tried this last night. I remapped the keys but it doesn't seem to work. Did I miss anything?

I'm not getting any weird errors in the game either. It's almost like I didn't do anything.

I rebound the 'chute key to my spacebar and I remapped my prone key to my crouch key but when I hit teh crouch key I still crouch and when I jump off buildings or out of choppers and hit my jump key I still fall to my death.

Any words of wisdom or help?

Sometimes you kind of have to. I have yet to be in a chopper that actually lands to let everyone out. Usually it's a "hit the ground running" type of a drop from a rooftop but it's still high enough where you have to open the 'chute, to which I always invariably fail to do. I don't know whether or not I'm not hitting the button enough times or if I'm not holding it down long enough.

I've never tried remapping multiple things to the same key, so I don't know that I can help you beyond where to find the mappings. There may be conflicts in the game engine if the keypress is defined to do more than one thing. Jump/Chute would seem in application like they don't conflict because you can't use them both at the same time, but in the game engine it's going to depend on how the developers wrote the controlling scripts.

For prone/crouch, you definitely would have a conflict there since you can do both things from a standing position. Looks like crouch has priority, so you're going to do that action. What you're trying to do just may not be possible.

With the miniguns being nerfed now on TG, the BH should be used more appropiately now. Bhack, you were flying it as a gunship the other night on Mashtuur. I was hit NUMEROUS times by the mg's but was not harmed too much. You were basically a distraction. Not necessarily a bad thing because most squads on MEC got chewed up by foot soldiers while focusing on the BH. Maybe use the BH to get troops to top of the hotel on Mashtuur. That way that can provide a overwatch of the flag and provide security from that high vantage point.

    In the pursuit of... something.

Using any helo to transport squads or squad leaders is a good idea...

it can instantly turn a defencive situation (where all squads are covering flags) into offence (where you force the enemy to defend their locations or lose them rapidly)

Having squad leaders posted at high locations makes assulting easy as the enemy cant really hit you with anything except artillery, (or some brillant grenade work).

another flag thats easy to hold from above is the Mosque on Mashuur... your within flag range and with all the spires protecting you your rarly seen, a lone infantry can keep the flag contended while a sniper squad on the high rise roofs can cover the two flags...

    Re: Airborne Infantry unit?

ive found that having a SL in a heli flying high is very effective (aka a flying mobile spawn point) , giving your soldiers a DZ that is behind a building or where the enemies wont see it, and deploying your chute at the last possible second reducing the chances of being seen can have dramatic results. also in maps like mashtuur, its small enough to where your soldiers can land anywhere at a given moment.

also, leaving the SL and a gunner in the chopper, you then wait for your troops to get close to the flag (they'll give you the word) bring the heli down wait for the defending enemies to look into the sky as bullets pour down from the gun and have your ground troops move in and take out the distracted enemy!

I guess I'm just wondering what is stopping a squad from doing this? It seems a airborne attack would be hard to counter. Not to mention that would alleviate the already slow Blackhawks from having to maneuver and land and then take off again.

So, is it done and I am just not seeing it or what? Just wondering.
I have seen it done on Wake Island also to "sneak" behind enemy lines to avoid the mad rush at the tips. Makes it easier to dump a squad onto a flag and cap to provide a spawn point on the island.
