    Anyone have any objections to me collating this?

    Id like to start building up a resource on the tactical wiki where all the guides and advice can be accumulated and structured to provide ease of access (rather than using the search query which i know many have a morbid fear of using). I dont think anything like this exists already but correct me if im wrong. I am working on the assumption that since this material has been written for the community there will be no objections with porting it across to another location as long as full credit is given and links are provided back to the discussion threads.

    If anyone doesnt like the sound of this let me know.

    I'd say go ahead.. If someone doesn't like their writing up there then it'd be no problem removing it.

    I've been meaning to do some of this myself for a while now.. There's lots of threads where people have given various suggestions on various topics, and bringing everything together in to one coherent document would be nice. Same with the guides, like Thez's.. put em up there with some of the suggestions in the threads.

    Cheers for the feedback. Im looking at the best way of implementing it and wading through the wiki editing faqs to find the best solution. The categories system seems to be the best bet at the moment.

    First step will probably be getting all the guides together in one place and then sifting through the miscellaneous suggestions to make one definitive document from all the loose ends on various subjects.

    Put it up there, give me some links, and I can put categories / templates / wiki-junk on the pages as necessary if you'd like. I like messing with Wiki code more than I like writing stuff anyways Wiki is a collaborative project, so you don't have to do everything yourself

    Cheers mate. I read this little gem of advice in the FAQ and reached for the corkscrew:

    "Adding a category tag to a category page makes the edited category a subcategory of the category specified in the tag."

    Ill PM you the links from which i was creating it, i dont mind collating and putting everytting up but im having serious trouble creating a framework for it to go in. Thanks mate.

    It's like how our forums are laid out..

    Forums
    -BF2
    --Rules
    --General
    --AARs
    -CSS
    --Rules
    --General
    --Maps

    So, if you add Category:BF2 to the Category:BF2-Rules page, BF2-Rules becomes a subcategory of CSS. I think I've never actually done that, but that sounds like the way it would work.

    Ive sent you a PM with a few provisional links. That statement just confused/amused me no end. Out of 21 words in the sentence 5 of them are or include category. Its like listening to a drunken accountant tell you about his day.

    Added more content/categories. How do i make a template? is it just [[:Template:templatenamehere]] and then {{templatenamehere}} to insert it?

    Sounds right..

    http://www.tacticalwiki.com/index.ph...adership_Index - that's one template, so just change the name at the end to get a new one.. so http://www.tacticalwiki.com/index.ph...Combat_Actions might be another, then you include where you want to use it with {{BF2 Combat Actions}}.

    Im working my way through the tactics section putting up all completed guides i come across. Once thats done ill see where the gaps are and start to accumulate miscellaneous tips from all the different threads which relate to the subject as well as seeing if there is any interest from the field specialists in creating something custom.

    Im still just ploughing through the tactics section to find whole guides which can be formatted and inserted. Im probably about 1/3 of the way through but pretty soon they are going to be quite early guides and observations which may be obsolete after numerous patches.

    Training and tactics library

    There are still quite a few gaps though. If anyone wants to provide fresh content for any area that is lacking or you have written a guide already for an area which is not included please post me a link and i will stick it up. Likewise If anyone else wants to rummage and add content, go right ahead.

    At the moment the sections are quite arbitrary and more concerned with getting everything up on the site rather than worrying about where it will live. If you do have any suggestions for useful sections or areas which it would benefit the community to have access to, shout it out though.
