I tend to let my squad self select on the initial spawn (unless its clearly an armor or infantry only situation). I notice that a lot of TG regulars do a good job of filling in missing kits (medic, support) etc on their own. As we are heading out to the initial flag, I pull up my squad list and note what we are missing and ask the sm's to change their kits on the next spawn as needed. I also encourage sms to request kit changes whenever they feel it is necessary.
In scrims I just follow Asch's logic

I agree with this. It stems from an idea I stole from work called Strength Based Management. This is where you put people in positions to work from their strengths to get the best out of the team. It allows for a fluid style that often adjusts to the needs of the squad automatically and empowers your guys to pick the right kit for the job. The majority of the time, it works. Sometimes you have to actively manage it, but if you are telling your guys what you expect to be fighting against, they will generally kit towards that anticipated threat. I try to keep people away from their weak kits if it doesn't suit their style.
