If it does not then you might consider uninstalling *everything* - PR, BF2, etc. and then reinstalling BF2, patch it to 1.5, install PR, etc. I've had weird problems like yours before and this fixed the issue. It sucks because it takes so much time but it seems to be the only solution.

Hey AeroChen. I've seen your posts on the problem elsewhere and was hoping you'd get some answers as I have the same problem! Really disappointing as I live abroad with my BF2 discs far away and thought buying it on steam would be a good idea allowing me to play some PR.

Did you also use VBNight's Autohotkey-solution from the PR forums to solve the "Use BF2.exe" problem? If so that could be the problem, unfortunately I've found no other way to start up PR using the BF2 collection from Steam.

The answer should be there ^^^
If it doesn't work try updating punkbuster or turning off your anti aliasing in PR video settings

    Re: PR Technical Problems Thread

Thanks for the tip, Alamo! As I couldn't get the steam one working at first I bought a new disc copy of Battlefield 2, but then I got -5009 : 0x8000ffff when trying to patch it to 1.50 so that didn't work either. Browsed the web but didn't get any further. Three copies of Battlefield and I still can't play PR, if that isn't frustrating then I don't know what is

I'll see if I can get my steam one working with your link, thanks again!

Your firewall is blocking punkbuster or something like that, try the help pages on their website to see a solution for it

If thats no good then just uninstall and reinstall and try again, its not setup correct and you cant play till pb reports in

Actually now I think about it windows 7 was not previously compatible with PB, check this has been fixed

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.

Have you tried running PnkBstrB.exe in compatibility mode with Vista/XP and as administrator or are you talking about the PR.exe?

No problem anymore, needed to set Effects to Medium stage.. Weird CTD's just because one setting was high, tough x800 should have it High..
Try this. There is a way to set settings with configuring some script I just don't how. Other thing is reinstall everything, and make sure you install everything in correct order.

    BF2, 1.41, 1.5, PR .87 core, PR .87 levels and PR .87 patch.

Mine is in 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64' but I 'm running Vista 64, not sure if it 'll be the same for Win 7.

Also, this might help. I 'm pretty sure if you search this thread for 'reinstall Punkbuster' that you will find an explanation .
