Re: Crashing problems
Post your issue in the stickied Technical Problems thread above, include more crash details (crash to desktop, kicked to main game menu, game seizes up, odd graphics issues like artifacts, complete computer freeze, error messages, etc) some computer details like CPU, RAM, operating system, etc after skimming the thread for someone with a similar issue.
Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Forgive, but I cannot lay out screenshots, for the reason:

New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
Hey all. I just recently got PR 0.87, and I'm just looking for people who are interested in playing. I've actually had PR for a few months, but my laptop got KIA'd and had to be wiped out and all that happy stuff. I only have a few training screw-around matches under my belt, so I'm itching to actually learn how to play the game for real.
I've been trying to play on some training servers, and I've been running into the same two problems.
1. On Kanshan (which seems to be the de facto training map), all I do is get bombed by people in planes when I'm trying to figure stuff out. Also, no one in any squad I join seems to want to talk.
2. Punkbuster keeps banning me from about 80% of the servers I join with the "Program/Driver 125119" restriction message. I poked around and found that this is linked to Fraps and Xfire. The thing is, I don't have either of those on my laptop in any capacity. It's frustrating because when I finally find a game with good people (or at least one when I'm not getting strafed by F-16s every three seconds), I get kicked.
Any ideas?

Re: New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
1) Read the manual; screw around on an empty server for a bit, join TG's server with a decent TG squad leader, tell them you're new and you'd like to learn.
2)read tech help thread in sticky's. Not sure of that specific problem.|TG-Irr| Dreadnought

Re: New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
Thanks for the info. I'm beginning to think it might be an issue with Windows 7. Before my laptop got wiped out I had Vista Home Premium 64-bit, no problems. Now I have 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
Also, I forgot to mention that I'm playing PR on the Steam version of Battlefield 2 (the Complete Collection).Last edited by Wrath 228; 01-23-2010 at 07:22 PM.

You could always try updating your PB at www.evenbalance.com , that fixes
most PB issues.

Re: New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
Also wrath, in addition to playing on empty servers, you can also create your own local server (nobody can join it anyway) and set it up in training mode. The advantage to this is that the spawn time can be set to 1 second (meaning you pretty much instantly respawn) and the respawn for vehicles is very very fast. Great for learning the ropes. Also, make sure you read through the entire PR manual, as it does contain some very tasty tidbits that you might otherwise miss.

Re: New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
Yes populated training servers are usually full of smacktards. Do as others have said, and after you feel you have the very basics down, join our server for some great teamwork oriented play. Feel free to squad up with me any time man, I usually call my squad "TACT INF" and I am pretty patient with new people (usually
).
In fact, when you start playing in our server, you may find that some people have more or less patience with newer people. It usually helps a lot to anounce the fact that you are new. Even the most patient squad leaders some times just want to rock and roll with an experienced group of mates and not be slowed down, and other nights may be more open to helping a new person. It's best to find out what kind of squad you are in as soon as possible, for everyone's benefit.
And finally, if you are interested, look for classes to sign up for in TGU (Tactical Gamer University). We just had a PR Basic Infantry Course (I mean, just now, as in I just got out of it) so there probably won't be another one for a month or two. But different classes are forming all the time, so check em out.
You have already found the forums, and that is a step in and of itself. There is a lot of great info here. I would recomend you google your technical issue, or post it in the appropriate forum, but other than that feel free to meet me in game or PM me with other questions. Good luck and welcome to TG!De Oppresso Liber

Re: New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
TG has its own training server that is passworded to keep the worst smacktards out. Info can be found here
If you have more questions about TGU or the game send me a PM and I will see what I can do.If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Re: New to PR, got a feq questions and a problem
loktight...you are the greatest person ever to walk the earth. While I can't believe I didn't think of that solution before (oblivion kept crashing on me a while back because of it, so I turned it off then too), I am overcome with gratitude.
Thanks a bunch. Everything works fine now.
