Crash To Desktop? Only On TG??!?
Hey guys,
I seem to be having some difficulties with PR .9.. I downloaded and installed and it's working fine, on all servers.. except TG server.. :O right after loading as soon as the deploy button is about to appear the game crashes to desktop, no error messages, no sounds, no nothing.. I tried updating my ATI Sapphire HD3850 drivers via clean install and still nothing. I don't know what the problem is exactly or how to fix it. I tried on all kinds of servers and no problems.. I never had problems with the previous version in the past, maybe it's the whole passwords day thing..
If there's anyone who has experienced this before suggest something? I would really like to get back to playing on TG

@Orpal
Did you install over 0.8 or delete 0.8 before installing 0.9? Maybe some stuff has jumbled up even though it's now supposed to...

I deleted everything regarding PR, even BF2 folder in my documents, PB and Mumble.

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread
Seems like everybody (or most people) experience a lot of rubber banding on the server.
The amount of objects on the new maps is giving the server a hard time, either it's the hardware that's too slow or there's too little bandwidth or both.
I checked the server info thread but no specs were listen.
Is an upgrade being discussed?
"Yes, an upgrade is being discussed by the right people and it's non of your concern."
or
"No, an upgrade is not being discussed and it's non of your concern."
?
I tried some other servers and they didn't have this problem.
EDIT:
I tried a quickie just now since the server is almost full with Euros and some Koreans
.
Anyway no rubber banding on dragon fly.Last edited by 2ClipsOneKill; 02-07-2010 at 07:47 AM.

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread
Well as far as the crashing to desktop goes when entering a map it solved it for me to wait a minute after the join button appears. Every time I clicked the button right after it appeared I crashed, once I waited for a minute and the map loaded fine.
If you crash when playing the game, it is almost always a driver problem. It can be either sound or video. I would suggest you clean out the drivers and reinstall them. Also over clocked or adjusted graphics setting can cause this.
Also try running PR in a windowed frame so you can see the error message, to do this adjust your PR shortcut.exe and add into the command line : +fullscreen 0
And for those who need all the commands, tweaks and stuff for BTF2 go to this site: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html
"Don't feel sorry for me I already feel sorry for you!."

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread
Actually, (although it might be the server) It's been made very clear that there is a mass of memory.dll allocation problems with BF2.exe and Dragonfly map.. Seems the map has some abnormalities that cause the Execute to suck more RAM then allowed, causing fatal error and thus a crash
PR team is looking into it.. But I can't say for sure about the server being to weak to pull due to that fact that I just cannot get in TG unless they're rolling dragonfly (lots of people CTD).. Anyways, hope this is solved soon :'(

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread
Some of the fixes that helped me get PR playable;
1.) http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-...x-try-now.html
2.)3.) Disabeling Aero on Win7,Vista and ofcourse running as administrator.try lowering your view distance to 98% from 100.
This imporoved frame rate for me with no negitative consequience
4.) Run in windowed mode to see what kind of error you get, then google it
5.) Update your Grahpics and Audio drivers, or downgrade.
6.) Get Textures on medium

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread
is there a command to allocate more ram to the game? i remember in COD there was a "hunkmegs" or (something similar) command that you could enter in console to let the game use more than the standard (512mb for the old COD?) .
