Players are reporting that the problem has fixed itself. So far I have been playing 30min without a crash.

EDIT:

Its 3:30 now and I just finished a round. Wow it was nice to be able to play again. Whatever was wrong seems to be getting fixed behind the scenes. I have done nothing today to try and solve this.

I have to express frustration at these possible fixes (not at you, UK, at least you are trying to help other people). I am having the same 1-2 minute CTD issue as many other people. And like many other people, I have been playing with the same software and hardware for a very, very long time. I have about 900 hours on BF2. Whatever the problem is, it can't be graphics related. I think BF2 is better than any other game, and I have resisted the whiners for a very long time. But I feel defeated. I can't play BF2 anymore. I usually try 3-4 times before I give up. No error messages, no changes... just a nice, neat CTD after a few minutes on any given server. I know it isn't me, but that doesn't make it hurt less. I want to kick some ass, and this error is really pissing me off. Sorry for the rant

Draeh I so glad you are able to play now without the CTD.....wicked so happy......Link I always feel better after blowing off a bit of steam two fella....all I ever do for anybody is try to get them back on the Battlefield...Now get back out there and kill the enermy.

I am going to test BF2 now. I will post on whether or not I am still getting the CTD.

Well...

I joined a server, and played three rounds, thus assuming I wasn't a victim of this issue anymore. But, I did eventually CTD after roughly 50 minutes of gameplay. I guess this saga continues.

Now it seems that I can play again. I played for a few hours w/o a CTD. And I took vengeance on the enemy.

alas.

it seems it has been fixed for me as well. i have played off and on today for a number of hours without desktop.

i wont rule out its fixed for at least another day. its interesting that it fixed its self though.
it must of been PB issue.. im thinking they messed compatibility up with x64 and fixed it with out admitting it to the public! but thats just my take...

I can't rule it out either... but let's just say I am happy to play again. Off to Reeds. Thanks to the people who spent their time trying to help! I think those of us with the CTD were like the lepers of BF2.
