    CTD 1-2 minutes after joining the server.

    And it doesn't matter which server. It is happening in vBF2, POE, & PR.

    Luckily (i guess), I am not the only one.

    This is FYI in case your having the same problem.
    your not the only one! same thing is happening to me since last night.
    i have tried reinstalling the game and mods fresh with no avail =(

    wondering if its punkbuster or what!?

    I already did. First thing I tried.

    I've also found that I can't play 2142 either. A few minutes on the server and then the client hangs. Every time.

    Did you delete the old PB folder before you updated?

    Yes. This is even happening to 2142.

    I've even gone so far as to completely reinstall BF2 and its related patches, etc. I even totally deleted the Battlefield 2 folder under My Documents.

    It just started last night. It was about 9:15 and I CTD while playing PR, but I didn't think anything of it and just stopped playing for the night. This morning, I tried to play PR and it happened every single time. So... I decided to seed the 2142 server and guess what? 2142 client freezes a few minutes after joining the server. After spending almost the whole day on this, I visited the EA forums to see that people in both 2142 and BF2 are having the same problems... Low and behold they are all saying that it started some time yesterday. Coincidence? I think not.

    Its very annoying. I wonder how many people are affected?

    I had the same problem starting last night, and while working with UK-Warrior I found that after the pb and other things did not work, updating DirectX finally fixed the crashing issue for me.
    Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

    have also tried to delete the pb folder then update it with pbsetup.exe.. as well as update dx9 - but its still crashing.

    Ok there is one other thing you guy's culd try...Roll back yer graphics driver here is the link to the old Nvidia drivers:

    Why?

    I haven't touched my graphics driver in months. In both games (2142 or BF2:PR) I can start local servers and play on them indefinitely without issue. Its only when I try to play on a 3rd party server that this problem arises.

    And did I mention that this just started Monday night?

    I think your missing the point. My post was about informing people that this issue is beyond our control. It is either Evenbalance (PB) or EA (master servers). There are sooooo many people (BF2, 2142) on the EA forums complaining of the same thing that started at the same time. Coincidence? No.

    Ad for my own machine. Everything was running perfectly on Sunday and Monday from 6pm EST - 9:15pm EST when I experienced my first CTD while playing PR. Ever since that moment, I cannot play either 2142 or vBF2 PR or POE without the crash. In 2142 the crash comes anywhere from 2-20min. In vBF2, PR, & POE it is like clockwork arriving within 2 minutes of joining the server.

    Again, In 2142 I can start a single player game and play indefinitely without issue. Same thing for PR. In PR I can start a private training server and play indefinitely. This to me would exclude graphics problems.

    This person contends that he fixed the issue by using PBsvc to completely uninstall the PB services (not just updating them). Using his plan, you will be completely removing Punkbuster (both A & B) from your system and installing them fresh.

    I am at work now, but I will try this when I get home.
