transfering in.
hi!
i am probably going to buy bf2 in the next few days, and there is some things i need to know.
1. is the expansion packs worth buying? it is 2 dollars diffrens in sweden so it is not a big deal.
2. what do the expansion packs do? new maps? new weapons? is it like northern strike in bf2142?
3. mods mods mods..... what is all the mods and what do they do? which ones should i download.

You can get BF2 and all of its expansions for $30 USD. The Special Forces expansion is basically a sequel. Euro Force and Armor Fury is just new maps/vehicles, oh yeah, Euro Force includes the new faction: EU.
The first mod that you should get in my opinion, is Project Reality. It was made for TG.

I'd recommend PoE. I like to think of it as PR: Lite. PR can get a little boring for my taste, but that's just me.

@ sproge: Um, I don't think so. Most mods only need vanilla BF2. The only things that really deserves getting is the Special Forces expansion.

ok let me get this right.....
1. ok if i need the Special Forces expansion it is cheaper to by them all, so that is what i will do.
2. PR: slow big map reality stuff, i know that, but what is PoE? what is the difference?

1. You don't need any expansion at all really, they are not used here at TG. Just get BF2 hoewever cheap you can, but i would buy the dvd and not some online download stuff because those have reported being problematic.
2. PoE is similar to BF2 vanilla, but with new maps, better weapons and armour. We have a TG server for that i suggest you try. It's awesome! PoE is a free mod you can download, same as PR.
Other than that have fun sproge and i will see you there

The PR server is populated most of the time. The BF2 vanilla server is never populated sadly. The PoE server is populated late in europe on tuesdays and fridays mainly, but also on other days on occasion.

download the official patch too, 1.41 I think
E1st are awesomr in pr, like in 2142 !

installed BF2 and did all that stuff, and everything went fine. then i tried the join a server, everything went fine, and the after 3 mins on the server i get PB kicked, i tried a lot of other servers with the same results, and i restarted my comp, still got the problem.
it stands "you have been disconnected by punkbuster, the reason follows in english below (in another box unther the other one) : PB kicked player sproge (for 0 min)... this PB server requires (A1392 C2.181) error loading PBCL.
HELP!
