Re: video card...
Just get the 9800 Pro. I think you'll be satisfied with it. You won't be able to run the highest settings but I bet you can run it better than you are now.

Re: video card...
Hey Adonis, it would be interesting to know what video card you are using right now.
Overall, with the amount of RAM you have and that mother board (a fine board by the way), if you buy the 9800 pro you will have a decent gaming experience. I don't know how much money you have to spend or if the 9800 pro is a special deal, but you should be happy with it.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a whole new computer until 64bit hardware and software stabalizes a bit.

Re: video card...
Your first post says you have 2 CPU's. If you're running a dual setup, then BF2 uses one processor. It will be your bottleneck and an X800 will be overkill.
Check out College St. in Toronto. There are a ton of computer shops around there. There's also Tigerdirect in Markham that might have a good price.

all i need is a card that can run shaders on my computer (so something better than the Saphire ATI radeon 9800 pro 128 MB DDR [ becuase people told me the game would lag if i put shaders on if i bought that card..)

Re: video card...
The shaders are going to run anyway because they are required. I think Thierry meant shadows. If you really do have dual processors, only one will be used while you're playing BF2. The other one will be left waiting for other applications to access it so BF2 won't take advantage of the extra processor. So getting a really beefy video card isn't going to make up for a slow processor. It'll help but you'll reach a limit where the video card can't give you better FPS.
I think either the 6600 or the 9800 will be a good choice. Just pick one and go with it. You'll be able to run BF2 but you really won't know how well it'll run until you actually get something and stop mulling over video cards. Expect medium settings and just go with it.

Re: video card...
i run a 9800np, with a athlon 64 3000 (@2Ghz) and a gig of RAM.
BF2 runs well at 1024x768, 4x AA, all medium settings. you should get similar performance, albeit with a slightly faster 9800pro and a slightly slower P4.
for the price, i would try for a 6600GT, though.

Re: video card...
I think perhaps the dual-CPU thing is possibly related to P4 Hyperthreading and may be confusing the issue...

Re: video card...
That makes sense. People should really know if they have one CPU or two so that others can make sound recommendations.
