Multiplayer works fine , single player crashes to desktop !
Hi,
I had only played BF2 offline like once..and only for a few moments to get the helicopter controls down.
But after that I played online exclusively.
Now , when I try to get back to the single player mode ( I have a new joystick I want to fully test out with the helicopters offline ) the screen goes right back to the desktop !
I've been reading EVERYTHING related to this .
My question is...if I can play online PERFECTLY...why would it crash for the single player game ? Arent the settings the same ?
This is my setup:
Athlon XP 3200+
1 gb of dual channel PC3200
BFG 6800GT OC
Asus A7N8X rev 2.0
425wt PowerSupply
I can play half life 2 with 4x AA and 8 X AF without a hiccup !
Doom 3 caps at 60 fps..but with the tweakguides 'fix' I can go past that..
So I dont think its my system ! Since I can STILL play online perfectly.
I just dont understand WHY I can play a single player game ?
I've tried two different methods..logging on with my online account , then going to multiplayer and then creating a local game with only me playing . ( I just want to practice my flying )
And I've also tried to do the single player game but once I click 'start server' it exits completely from the game and shows my desktop.
Any help would be awesome !!
Also , I have the latest Nvidia driver released on the 3rd and I use onboard sound..but again..I dont think its my system because I can play online fine.
Please help !!!
A better pilot helps us all !!!

Works fine.

You know , the only change I made was adding a custom map that this one server was using.
Thats the ONLY change I made to the game.
When I re installed thats the only major difference that I could see.

Are gets you on the right path or whatever.
Yeah , now I can play singleplayer and everything.

i have the same MB as u and my comp crashes wen i play singleplayer too

Asus A7N8X rev 2.0 . Yeah , maybe its the motherboard ?
It definately isnt my video card 256 MB BFG 6800 GT OC .
But just re install it.
After all the tricks and 'defaulting' everything...I just reinstalled and now it plays fine.
Actually , smoother because before it would be REALLY REALLY choppy offline and in single player mode . Which is strange .
But now single player is perfect and smooth.
My advice is to just reinstall then defragment ( advice from tweakguides ) and then play.
