Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
hmm - that gives me an idea - ditch the story in the "map info" screen in favor of some helpful notes - Like how many CP's are need for ticket bleed, etc....

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
Great idea.
Before a clan scrim, I have it set so that map descriptions highlight key points that I need to remember for that map.
You'd be surprised, but it's actually improved the way I play.
With your idea though, the ways it can help TG players is nearly endless.

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
I wish I had the creativity to come up with a Bork Bork language file, like Google. Elmer Fudd could be fun, but I think Pig Latin would be tough. The possibilities are endless

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
excellent post..like the smacktard thing this tk's.
Salad is there a way to show it when beatnik gets knifed to show the message in a seperate color. The only downside i see to this would be that it would show up every minute.
. dont worry I still love you beatnik. lol

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
There are no conditional statements. In english terms, you cannot compare a certain variable with a certain value, so there's no way to make things be one way if a certain thing is true (Beatnik being #PLAYERNAME2#, in this case), or something else if it is false.

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
Been using Salad's file for a week or so now. Great additions! Without the file, I wouldn't have seen this gem go scrolling across the top..

Bump for the sake of goodness. Just came across this again and saw Salad included his own version so lazy people like me can copy & paste the file in. Looking forward to trying it out tonight!

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
New release for 1.21. Use the two .utxt files in there to replace your current ones. Since it's a .zip file, the file size is significantly smaller, as it is compressed. It should be around 74kb now (as opposed to ~440kb).
Download Mirror 1 (TotalBF2)
Download Mirror 2 (Rapidshare.de)
Enjoy!

Re: Having Fun with the Localization Files (v1.12)
Apologies for the double post. Hopefully the change in content, and the over-one-month time span will be taken into account,

[ Important Notice ]
The tutorial has been completely rewritten from nothing. I used parts from the original tutorial, but nothing has been kept as it is. The color scheme of the tutorial has changed, and several sections have been moved/removed/added/renamed. I now also use a unique font for the entire tutorial, with a second font used (in addition to the coloring) to emphasize certain parts. Adding the second font took a few hours alone.
I've also gone through and cleaned up numerous typos, mistakes, or incorrect information. I've rephrased many sentences so that they make better sense, or so that they contain more information.
I've added a "Localization File Downloads" section, which will contain my localization file downloads, and alternate downloads of other users who want to share their customizations to, to provide the reader with more choices.
I would release the new tutorial right now, but my downloads and certain parts of it contain information relating to the 1.30 patch. Releasing the tutorial now would be a violation of the NDA by which I am bound. Therefore, this tutorial, and the new downloads for my files, will be released along with the release of the 1.30 patch.
And finally, thanks to a generous donation, this tutorial will also be available (in its entirety) in PDF format, for those who want a copy on their computer, or a hard copy.
I thank you all for your patience at this time. If you have any ideas/suggestions for this tutorial, feel free to PM me, and I'll make sure to read through it and take each suggestion seriously.
