Urge to kill....Rising!!
Ok I'm back home where I grew up in Tampa visiting my parents for Christmas. Happy day. But tonite I tried to plug my laptop in to my dad's DSL line (he has AOL Broadband for the love of crimeny) and the connectivity requires some AOL software to 'log on' to the internets. Why having to access the internet thru AOL software is a 'feature' I can't understand. But I can't connect even after repairing the connection and resetting my settings to auto.
So I'm stuck leeching off their neighbor's weak wireless signal, getting about 1.0 Mbps.
Have any of you had the misfortune of working with AOL For Broadband (TM)? Any easy workaround I can use to get my laptop online on my dad's DSL, short of installing this garbage software?
If not, my TG detox has apparently begun. It's going to be a loooong 10 days without my fix.

LOL. Ok first of all, tell your dad to get rid of AOL ASAP.
Are you plugging it straight into the modem or using a router?|TG-33rd|Dark_Viper

Nice! That second one looks promising. I was thinking something along the lines of setting up a new connection, but have zero experience with dsl OR AOL's fubar requirement of 'logging in' to access your broadand connection. I'll give that a shot.
