ISP's can be finnicky beasts. Getting a "problem with your connection" error is probably just that. You guys seem to be jumping the gun on thinking it is a problem with the software.
Start doing trace routes and watching for lost packets. There could be a hardware failure on a hop that your connection uses to get to the server in texas...

Wired straight to the computer from the modem and haven't had one connection problem in 2 nights.

I just read your thread JMJ and realized I have the same router. I'm going out on a limb and blame it on the router. There are times when I can't even surf the internet and have to turn off the router for a few minutes, when I turn it back on I magically get an internet connection.
