Help! High ping --> BF2 unplayable!
I have ATT DSL service, 3 Mbps in San Diego, CA. I've noticed that my ping whenever I play any online games is way too high and/or inconsistent. I've tried messing around w/ settings and tried various optimization programs but to no avail. Line quality and bandwidth tests from broadbandreports.com show normal results.
Does anyone else have trouble with high pings using [ATT] DSL, and how did you resolve it? My modem/router is the 2wire 2701 model that ATT gives you. Should I try a different unit?

Re: Help! High ping --> BF2 unplayable!
I don't have any answers, but since I am also in San Diego I will share.
I use Roadrunner (Time Warner cable) and typically ping ~100 to the POE server (actually all TG servers located in VA). I recently started using GameRail, which lowers my ping to ~90. Since the closest connection currently is in LA, I hope to lower it further once Time Warner is on board.
How bad are your pings?|TG|MeleeClear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!

As low as 150 and as high as 4000, although it fluctuates between 200 and 400. I get a lot of rubberbanding which makes it impossible to navigate and aim.

Wow, that would be unbearable. Can you switch carriers?

Unfortunately my apartment complex has some kind of deal w/ ATT so that they're the only ISP the tenants can use

Thanks for the hardforum tip, didn't think of trying there!

What a deal! Maybe you can steal Wifi from the neighbors?
