BF2 won't patch on Vista.
Hi guys!
Have just got back into BF2 at a LAN centre after a break so thought I'd reinstall it at home. Basically I've tried on both 32bit and 64bit versions of Vista Ultimate and the game will not patch.
I've tried the big 500mb 1.41 patch off of EA's website and tried installing all the patches one by one. I've downloaded everything a couple of times so can rule out correct files.
Whenever I go into the game its telling me I am running 1.1.2.
Any ideas??????
I've tried the Compatibility Wizard etc, running as Administrator and patching with Anti Virus/Firewall disabled.
Specs:
Athlon AM2 Dual Core 5500+ CPU
2gb PC5600 CRUCIAL RAM
Geforce 7950GT 512mb
500gb Seagate Hard Drve
Asus M2N-Something Motherboard
Latest Direct X and video drivers.

I dont know what the problem could possibly be. I run Vista and it patched fine for me.
The only thing I can think of is the old "install, run once, exit, patch" thing.

AFAIK, it doesn't actually list the patch in game. For instance, I'm patched all the way to 1.41 but it's actually listing the build number at the splash screen (1.1.2965-797.0)
If that's what you are seeing, you be patched.

What JAMerica says is correct. It does show the patch ingame by the number he listed. That number is different for different versions of the game.
Heres a complete list of the Patches and corresponding build numbers that you will see in-game:

Version 1.03 update installed.

It's not patched as I can only join a handful of servers and I know these servers are running the standard default install which is 1.0 or 1.1 or something along those lines.
My friend said its a corrupt patch even though I've downloaded it several times so he's going to pop round a copy on usb stick later that he used.

are you getting the patch from the same place every time you download it? cause if you are, theres your problem. try downloading from different locations.
