Two pet peeves as commander, both of which people on my team did this past round of Qwai I commanded:
    • Backseat Commanding - If you're not the commander, dont try and give orders. If I'm commanding, I have a battle plan. I've done this once or twice before and know what I'm doing, I assure you. If you want to be the guy to give the orders, YOU be commander, but since I'm in the driver's seat, shut the hell up. Also, if you have any smartass comments about my orders, you can either keep them to yourself or get the hell off my team.
    • PEOPLE BLOWING THE GAME WITH STUPID UNAUTHORIZED MOVES - Look, when your team only has a few tickets left (i.e. less than 30) and the other team is within 10 tickets of you, going roaming around in a convoy for fun is not only irresponsible, but blatantly STUPID. My team decided this would be a good idea. Took 3 fully loaded vehicles and got blown up when we had less than 20 tickets left, but were still in the lead. We lost 9-0 less than a minute later. Excellent job of turning a clutch victory into a loss.
Man am I pissed off right now.

hehe sorry about that ferris, we knew we had it in the bag so we wanted to parade around the streets. well, of course a new guy got into a humvee, and even when told 10 times about a minefield he was still not quite listening, and managed to ram himself into another friendly vehicle and a pedestrian, killing 2 vehicle and 5 friendlies.... yea that is epic fail right there but was a good round otherwise.... the end of the round kind of was going on and on with db's squad not seeing an enemy for 25min thats why the convoy was created haha ahh well, close round, and besides its not really about who wins or loses, right?

    Defense! i.e., Kashan.

USMC has both bunkers, so an "attack sq 1" can head out to So. Village, perhaps with armor/apc support. Before sq 1 completely caps So. village, the entire team leaves the bunker complex to assist.

Man, they're building firebases on the east hills from the bunkers and poised to get it on, but no defense in the bunker complex!

Simultaneously, the No/So Bunker becomes neutral.

Hotdog chopper pilots. Yes, you may be able to cruise between the trees at 20 feet, or dive under the bridge in Jabal at 80 knots, but please don't, unless you want to muck my vomit and feces out the back of your chopper.

Squad members who are regulars and skilled players who get pissed off and insubordinate to my SL orders. They fail to understand the importance of the homogeneity of a squad. Too many times has someone who "knows whats best" and made a comment on voip run off, causing the squad to trail behind them, spreading us out into spaced out rambos, misaligning the purpose of the squad i wanted to lead... Causing death and then conditioning the other SM to not trust me, when it was their insubordination which screwed it all to hell.

Squad members who are leet and run off doing their own thing without telling me.
I don't mind someone who is skilled and knowledgeable about the game going on a solo rally hunt, but they need to ask to do this and communicate that they are doing it or else the rest of the squad will think it's okay to do what ever they want at their whim.

Squad members who think i am joking when i tell them to watch a specific direction, or to keep their attention towards a specific place... and then ten seconds later say "what are we looking at", failing to understand that we are holding position and waiting for contacts, which i feel i explain well enough each time.

Anyone who thinks that flags are the only points that one should hold at, failing to realize that most pathways towards flags are not within the flag it self and can be intercepted by a squad positioned away from the flag.

Anyone who thinks that "assulting a flag" means only to rush into fire to get as close as possible to cap radius.

Those who don't understand that a squad watching a specific area provides the best cover for a squad moving up to that area, and the failure to utilize this good idea. We need to realize that a squad DOES have a flank, and 80% of the time it seems that if a flanker appears at distance which can be dealt with the squad members fail to understand that they need to change their positioning slightly and prepare for what is coming..

Those who in the midsts of a fire-fight fail to understand that when i give a move order to a differnt side of the building or a differnt position in natural terrain that i'm not just putting it there for fun, but that i have an opinion formed through observation and awareness that the position will provide the best opportunity to engage who i want to.

My biggest pet peeve is when I'm in a squad and the squad leader has a bad attitude. Squad leaders really shouldn't be condescending towards their minions and blame the squad for everything. It IS possible that as an SL you led your squad into a bad situation.

I also have to second whoever said they don't like smartass comments while commanding. The least helpful thing while commanding is hearing "it isnt a hard concept" "what are you waiting for" "this is stupid" etc while you're trying to coordinate something. Commanding isn't easy. Getting 32 strangers to not only work together, but listen to another strangers orders is a real train wreck sometimes.

    Re: pet peeves of pr

i dunno rafterman, i kind of like the idea of role-playing...

For example, "Soilder get that light AT up here"...
"i cant sir i am pinned down"

"SUPPORT GUNNER GET SOME FIRE ON THAT VODNICK"
"LAT, come-on ya sissy boy get that boom stick up here and FIRE"

    then we all die...

what do you say next? well, it brings on a question of metaphysics and the nature of identity. One usually identifies them selves with their physical body and ideas and ability to hold functions, but what happens when you provide these same types of objects in a digital realm and then have the human come and enter into them?
Thats just a complex, pointless, personal semantic of connotative maneuvering, which is asking the question "how much emotion do you put into the game". Cuz hell, when i first play BF-2 my heart pound like a mo-fo... but after playing on TG server for bf-2 and the FULLCONTACTWAR Server as an admin, and a good entire year of bf-2... i started to see the limits and know what was possible.. This took away part of the unknown aspect, and in now knowing what was coming i began to scheme to control, thus i invested emotion it seemed...

THEN!!! comes my introduction to PR.. and TG-PR.. the potential within the game mechanics due to the modifications allowed me to see that a much more sophisticated and reality resembling type of action could emerge. My particular interest was in infantry vrs infantry squad engaged at a distance behind large natural terrains. PR seemed to allow a good model of reality to emerge if one were to play right, but then agian play right implies that ones perception should be followed... least you are a lone wolf.
So in that i see that many players play for differnt reasons, i don't know these reasons. But the reason i play the game is to try to find role, like acting in a sense... it is artistic to me, or at least it feels slightly. The maneuvering of the infantry and technologies with these capacities to bring a certain fate, death, and the ability to replicate that in a way that does not actually harm our bodies is very appealing to me as a test of human creativity. But these are my personal beliefs, and PR Is crap in terms of what could really be achieved..

    and here is the thing...
Complex tactics and stratagies are not followed simply because they sound cool... but it is that something real and tangible can be organized that will give one a significant edge. And i'm not just talking about commanding, but more so the exact types of actions which a squad preforms when engaged with an enemy infantry squad at a distance of more then 200m with natural terrain as cover. So in that sense i feel that there are tactics which employed correctly will out preform any other tactic. But the "Correct" tactic for each squad will be differnt due to their purpose, position and timing... In either case...
I just like infantry vrs infantry at a distance, and i am trying to figure out how to explain to my squad mates that we can engage at a very far distance and get very good kills if we become aware of our surroundings and our other squad mates actions in game... Who cares about reality in that case, live your TG spawn time as if it's your last!

    blather.com

P.S the part that i cant explain is that i want them to be ready to re direct their focused long range attention to an enemy squad that starts to move in and flank us. It is hard to stay focused...
