Only admins will be able to spawn it, from the looks of it. So even if it can be used like that, I don't think an admin is gonna fly this "Thomas the Tank Engine" looking thing in your face.

As long as I can kill the pilot, that's fine.

In all seriousness, though, it's kind of nice I'm sure for events especially the large COM events for PR.

I actually appreciate that there is something like a training server
well, I have to admit I sometimes do mess around, but not in a completely retared
way like for example celestial lol.
no seriously, I know there is PRSP and you can still creat your own local server
where you start to feel pretty lonely after some time, but at least I use the training servers
regularly to test some stuff I wouldn't dare to do on TG :O
    any opinions?
There are always the COOP servers: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-...l-release.html if you want to play together with others but not in a serious way like a regular game (depending on the server of course). COOP would make a great training mode for new players if it followed the regular requirements of normal PR, as single player does have some differences.
Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Its not visible by players and it sounds like it'd be an admin thing otherwise it'd be like a free uav. Quite useful for observing the server I guess

I'd love to see co op used as training, landing under hostile fire and all sorts would be possible to train?

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.

    @ the eye thingy:

Do you guys remember when this website did a shoutcast about a PR TG scrim? That was awesome imo, and one of the highlights of TG gameplay. I imagine this new thing could help a lot in making these matches more shoutcast-able. God I would like to see this happening again. It was great fun to watch. Want more shoutcasts!

    Deployable Milan

Does hearing that this and other Deployable anti-tank units will be implemented in .9 just make you want to yell out "Let's Kill Some Russians!!!"

No, not at all... I fail to see the correlation.

    More .9 goodness:

In the Battlefield 2 v1.5 patch, a limitation to the amount of map markers the Commander can place was hardcoded to one per minute, which made our marker system limited and not as useful as we would like.

Since then we worked on alternative systems and came up with the Squad Leader Radio "weapon" (as it takes a weapon slot in the Officer kit inventory). The idea is to use the direction the player is facing and a distance set in the HUD of that weapon as a way to determine where a marker should be placed.

In the pictures bellow you can see the "enemy contact" HUD, with the distance being set by clicking the middle button and the type of enemy contact by clicking the other buttons around it.

We also have a specific "request and deploy" HUD, with the deployable assets the faction can deploy, as well as the requests to other squads like supplies, support, transport, etc.

This system gave us a way to make customizations per faction, for example, Insurgents don't have any deployable asset (yet) besides Hideouts (renamed Forward Outposts). Also they don't have APC and Helicopter transport, or CAS and Armor support, so we replaced these specific items with more realistic ones. Hopefully it will help players understand what each faction can deploy/use.

As you already saw, the communication HUDs received a new "coat of paint" with added icons by [R-DEV]AncientMan and [R-DEV]Chuc, making it much more pleasant and accessible.

I recorded a video of the weapon in use, as well as showcasing the custom HUD for the Ground Laser Target Designator (WIP), which will hopefully help with the communication between the CAS pilots and ground troops.

Hope you all enjoy this new feature

Awesome, this will definitely help communication between squads and at the same time reduce chatter on Mumble.

Wow! This post if full of clues about .9!

    What I spotted:

    1) Out with the knifes and in with but melee attacks
    2) No more field dressings (for the officer at lease)
    3) New types of area attacks: CAS cannon, missiles, CAS LGM *Laser guided missile* (JDAM I guess), LGB *Laser guided barrage*?
    4) New class: rifleman AP *anti-personnel*?
    5) An "objective" com. rose command that could mean the return of hostage rescue maps.
    6) Operation Beirut will be a IDF vs. ? map. It looks like they have a carrier in the bay also!

I fell like a kid in a candy store! Can you guys spot other things!

Can’t wait for .9 now … Hope to see come footage of the Canadians soon!

    Nix

Rifleman AT/Rifleman AP? I take it the second is Armor Piercing, the H-AT kit?

At first glance the SL "Command Weapon" seems a little bulky and I don't like the idea of the SL dropping his rifle to issue orders. But I'm sure it won't be much of an issue in game...

By the way before someone else mentions it; JDAM is a GPS guided bomb so it will be something else that they are describing. It looks like a lot of work has gone into the upcoming release though.
