    This thread needs a revive.




    One of my few pictures during skiing. Certainly not my best race, but I think I look OK.


    I am really much taller than I look in the picture. In order to get your weight as far forward as possible (necessary to go fast and to use the skis properly, there is a science behind it), I have to crouch down/bend over forwards.

    nice waldo...i was skiing today and all the racers were out...man...i wanna run the gates on the "super g". i put it in quotes cuz that what they were calling it...even tho it was only 700feet of vertical.

    If you don't have shin guards or hand-guards on your poles (mine are yellow), yes. Yes it does. It hurts like a bitch.


    The suit I'm wearing does have padding on the outside of the arms, the back, and the back of the legs. Unfortunately those are the places where the gates are least likely to hit you. The gates are made of a pretty hard plastic, though they are designed to bend once hit (as you can see in the picture).



    And Redd_Wiggler, I don't suggest running race courses unless you are in a program, because not only will you be yelled at, but also because when the tip of your ski hits the base of a gate at 40 mph, you are likely to break something unless you have finely tuned equipment and knowledge on how to fall (yes, falling is a skill. In just this season, my team of ~50 people has had one torn tendon/muscle, which put a girl in crutches for two weeks, and a broken collar bone.


    Skiing is good fun.

    thanx for the advice i was going to start skiing nastar this year (i say that every year LOL) but the girl who was going to coach me (she has been racing since she was 4) decided to spend the winter instructing in Austria instead. besides...i'm getting too old to race anyway...and i have more of a bckcountry setup..yeah...thats it.

    Why did you shoot so many. Do you bring them home or just leave them there???

    Oh and by the way warpig we will have to kick you from the 31st since I'm a member of PETA and can't stand people mistreating animals. When you start to butcher those poor innocent birds like that I think that you are a horrible person.
