    Re: Disturbing Trend (LAT/HAT/TOW/AA)

I too have noticed this during the recent time. Quite annoying and frustrating. The server, and primary its regular players, need to start sending the message that not knowing the rules - or not being aware of the rules - is no longer a viable excuse.

Perhaps an idea would be to basically pump up the volume of ingame messages [admin-style] informing the server and its population of what is a no no, for perhaps a period of one week? Would it annoy some to have a message every minute or every second minute telling them that HAT against infantry is against the rules? It probably would. Would it, however, send a clear-cut message to the very same people? Quite so.

Given that we will be seeing an influx of new player on the server now for a while, then perhaps now would be the time to educate them of the rules. Would that mean that the TG server would be known for its very strict rules? Yes. How would that be compensated? Trough excellent teamplay and providing the best server.

Why can't we just have the rules scrolling in at the top? There isn't anymore QM spam so if you were to miss it you'd be idiotic. Also decrease the time between messages.

    lol, didn't see steiners post

I think more PW nights for a while will help. That way, if they do break the rules...

Well you know the rest of the story.

I'd like to see random PW nights. Whenever the server hits the fan on a weekday night, throw on a NEW pw.

Well when you see the missile streak upward and then guide slightly down and right towards you, then it's pretty certain it's a HAT. As for the TOW, a TOW Humvee came right up on us and fired at us. Obviously both are against the rules.

    Cheers.
I know ive said this before, but its very important that when you witness these things, you download the BFR file, make a sandwich, put it at FF 300% and find the players ID. Admins will take care of this if we just help do the Legwork.

We just got rid of a bunch of crap on the screen, lets not clutter it up again

Wish there was a way to give them a big black sceen with the Rules on it as they were loading though.

can you spam the rules on the big black death screen? (probably not i am guessing...)

as for getting people here to read the rules...well what finally got me here was password nite. i went to join my fav server and it was LOCKED! (the horror!)...then i figured i might find something out if i went to the website...voila! i found the password, and a whole new place to hang out...now you will never get rid of me! mwuhahahaha!

Well, when your loading in the server message could be changed to have 1 or 2 rules in there, it seems there is enough room but it'll look cluttered.

i personally dont have a problem with the LAT used against infantry, as long as there is no light transport near by. cuase first of all it takes awhile to reload and second of all you know exactly were that person is and you get hit a second time its your fault.

as for HAT i tell people the rules of the HAT before i let them pick it up.

    Re: Disturbing Trend (LAT/HAT/TOW/AA)

Let me state clearly that I have nothing against the LAT being used against infantry. There are many different cases that I could see a LAT being used on infantry especially if they are dug in and at range. Buildings, Bunkers, Firebases, Sand bags, behind cover, behind a hill, easy cluster of them too far for a grenade.. etc.

It's when players run around with a LAT out instead of their Rifle and use it as their Primary weapon like the rocket man class from Team Fortress. Obviously soldier out in the field don't run around with a LAW rocket on their shoulders ready to take out enemy that happen to pop out from around a corner. That's what they have their rifle for. Duh!

Also a question. I can't seem to tell the difference between being killed by a LAT and being killed by a HAT. I only know it's a HAT if I see it incoming and correct itself. Is there a difference in the explosions between the two? Should the HAT explosion be noticeably larger?

The H-AT has a different sound when it's traveling than the L-AT. It's hard to describe, but you can tell the difference if you listen.

for the love of god dont do that!!!

the whole reason for individual player message was to reduce (as much as possible) the chat crap on the screen...

already i think the chat spam on the top of the screen is too invasive, and is obviously not stopping people from ignoring the rules, making it even MORE frequent is just putting crap on the screen that people who follow the rules, get annoyed at, and people who dont follow the rules, ignore.

i think a more defined list of rules should be posted, and you guys should post in the PR section. You have a BF2 vanilla section (which no one plays anymore) with a bunch of rules for BF2 (which are completely out of touch with PR).

Also a general note about the forums, its kind of cluttered with a bunch of rules/SOP/etc that are scattered about the forums I think... would be nice for all the important stuff to be linked in the PR forums...

Lets face it, the forums that are most active here at TG are PR forums, you regularly see 50+ people viewing these forums, while the rest of the them have much less than that... Not saying this will always be the case but it might help out a bit with the noob situation if the PR section on these forums had all the essential info/rules in one easy to read thread..

    Nardini,

Has there been discussion of putting some of the basic rules of the server in some type of startup screen as |TG-X|Elwenil suggested? I am not sure it is technically possible, but it was a good point that if people were flashed the basic rules before joining, they may be more aware of the issues. Possibly instead of tips on PR there should be rules of TG in the startup.

I would be willing to make a tutorial video which covers the TG server rules. Currently, I'm still working on my commander asset tutorial, but once I finish it I could do a TG rules tutorial.

Just got off a game on Seven Gates.

I got killed NINE times by HAT from China main base. I was flipping the lid (angry german kid style).

It was the most frustrateing round ive ever played.

In the end DirtBoy identified the culprit who still, after alot of telling to stop, didnt.

    So anoying.

The problem is ,,, no matter what you do ,,,there are people that will always break the rules...There is always some one who thinks they are above the rules....And its always the same little napoleons...

So to minimize problems there Sq leaders have to action...

If any player in my sq breaks a server rule i always correct him ...
99% stay,,, the willing to follow the rules players,,, the rest leave due to constant correction....

Cause if your not having fun ,,,I m not having fun ....

And i m sorry to here there are some people who think you can t run faster with your knife out,,, when it s a known fact ,,you can run faster with your knife out...."Its just Science" ...I say good day Sir..
