Huey is fine IMO w/o weapons. They are used for transport and should stick that way. Not to mention the annoying habit of having people do something stupid like constantly firing the mini-gun and/or actually trying to *kill* something.

It is also easier to land the Huey I've noticed.

I know theres a limit to the maximum destructibles they can have. New basra has tons of civilian cars, its a great change to gameplay but I wondered if that was a cause

Anyway I do have a video of a merlin lagging, just random frap footage. I wasnt the pilot and I presume he wasnt lagging but it certainly seemed laggy from my viewpoint. As I remember it, that was down to standard merlin lag not anything else.

You can see how the screen freezes for half a second every now and again, I thought the trippy music was appropriate

maximizing the ram in one's computer helps to solve all problems.....also a good video card is needed but MORE RAM IS GOOOOOOOOOD!!!! - it's milk for your computer it does the hard-drive a body good.

MOAR RAM, but the most you can use with bf2 is 3gb so anymore is useless and doesn't work. Also, any Vista users out there. Vista 32 only supports 3.5gb of ram so anymore will just be wasted.

Damnit Blizzard, fix ZvT already >.<

The merlin/huey bug has absolutely nothing to do with ram. I use sirreal panel g15 addon and can watch my ram / page file utilization in real time while playing.

I get the bug on my 2 better PC's and my slowest pc doesn't get it at all.

General specs for all 3 are
    1
    core2 quad 6600
    8800gtx
    2gb ram
    xfi elite sound card

    2
    Core 2 duo 8400 wolfdale
    9800gx2
    2gb ram
    Both of these experience it.

    3
    amd3600x2
    radeon x850 xtpe
    2gb ram

This one doesn't. And no before anyone suggests it, it is not an Intel thing, i used to get it on my x5200 machine with an 8800 gts before i gave it to a friend.

I've indeed seen this lag, but remarkably only once in some hours of huey flying (on operation archer). After I crashed I didn't get it again. I thought it was a serverside thing, but it is rare (haven played basra).

Yea I agree its not the memory thing which is down to textures beginning paged from elsewhere on a system into vram

But it is funny that the machine with the weakest graphics card should have no problem, I presume you did not use high textures on that machine. Maybe its related to shader model or something

Gutted Basra isnt working, unique map it is.

& Huey handling is a bit scary. Reminds me a bit of the cobra, suddenly your diving and only gaining more speed - rollercoaster Hopefully its learnable like the 0.5 BH

    Re: Huey reinvented

I tried flying the Huey for the first time last night and I did get a bit of lag. A half-second every two or three seconds it seemed, just enough to freak out my passengers and force me to land (which I did, safely). At one point while as passenger I would also get 2-3 seconds worth of lag (There is a problem with your connection) but that didn't last for the whole map.

    Edit: on Archer

Yeah, that's what Huey lag is like for me. Merlin lag was like that as well. It can get really annoying, the worst thing is if you have a kickass battle plan involving fast movement of troops in a Huey, which gets scuppered when the pilot lags himself to death.

I avoid Hueys now. Actually, I avoid all transport helis.

    Re: Huey reinvented

I have yet to fly it, but can't wait to try it out.

PS: Thx for telling me why Basrah and Archer are out of rotation... haven't even gotten a chance to play the new map .
