BF2 / PR not starting... help fellow TGer!
Alright, recently my brother installed CoD4 on my computer... I didn't had time to install it for him so I let him do it.
Now... 1 week later, after not playing PR for 2 week... I'm starving!
I double-click on my PR shortcut... I got the first Blackscreen just before the BSS and PRM animation and it "crash" to desktop without any error.... same goes for BF2 when I try. I guess that my driver, directX or I don't know what are screwed up due to some "n00b" installation process from my brother (I don't know how he could do this tho...)
So, I uninstalled my game... re-installed it... patched it... and same thing! Black screen and boom back to desktop! Without any error message...
So please help me before I uninstall this again... or even format... My guess is that I could uninstall it and clean up all the remaining file in my registry but I'm not sure where to go...!
Hopefully you can help me!

edit : I tried to open the game directly from the pr.exe in the mods/pr folder... and this is what I got...

I think this is the order you need to reinstall in:
1. BF2 setup
2. BF2 update
3. PR vers 7
4. map pack for PR
5. PR 7+ update

Your desktop shortcut shud looks something like this:
C:\Games\BattleField2\mods\pr\pr.exe +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
Change the "fullscreen" value to 0 to see the BF2 error messages
If you are planing to reinstall the game make sure to delete all the BF2 files that remain..

Ok try this
First make sure you have the latest Directx
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Then if it works with that great!
If not uninstall all Bfs related files....Defrag the hard drive you want to install to...then reinstall in the order mentioned above, then defrag again.

Did your brother mess with your video card control panel and drivers?
Edit* don't forget about system restore......it saves lives.
Like, restore it to a date before the COD4 install., he can always reinstall it after pr works in front of you.

Thx! The error it give me seems to be related to Direct X... Now I remember my brother saying "The game (cod4) doesn't work... it say something about Direct X."... I'll try to desinstall directX and reinstall... strange because after the installation was completed, I said YES to the DirectX9b install.... Originally Posted by eol

It should be directx9c
The direct x files on the bf2 cd are going to be about 3 years old, they update it on a monthly basis so try March's release:

also look at start > run > dxdiag
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.
