J key jumps over hedges, wish it scaled small walls too...

I'm enjoying it, but you need a group of guys to play it with. The map scale is much more realistic.

It would certainly be better than the current system for getting over small walls (the invisible ramp). I've been killed dozens of times when I've tried to crawl up against low wall, only to get on top of it and get shot by the same guy that you where trying to hide from in the first place.
What do you write here, anyway?

Arma 2 looks nice but from the movies, it looks more like delta force series.

Havnt really played arma1, played a good bit of op flash back in the day. Terrible multiplayer unless, as allready said, u are in a clan/community.

My 2 biggest gripes with PR are the view distance and the map sizes are too small.

Other than that PR all the way. Looking forward too arma 2 though, will defo have to become a supporting member and get more active with TG players for it as the potential is great.

    Re: PR versus ARMA

The PR.com off topic forum has a 40 page thread going about ARMA2, and some people were asking about the game play speed and stuff the other day, so I wrote what is below. I am resposting it here to help all our PR players get on the same page since the game is due for full release on the 19th, (about 3 days away).

The reason I want to post this here now is to be helpful to players who have never played ARMA, and also as a warning. Warning everyone now, ARMA at TG is for MATURE gamers, and we have a very good admin staff that is determined not to let has has happen to my beloved PR happen to ARMA2. A lot of you have noticed I don't really play PR much any more, and only check this forum about once a week. Like a lot of the guys, and the PR admins, I'm sick of the whiny brats that seem to feed off of how much trouble they can cause and how much they can complain.

Right now TG has 2 of the best ARMA1 servers out there and we plan on continuing that with ARMA2.

So bottom line is this. We welcome you to our ARMA2 server with open arms, and look forward to gaming with everyone who gets the game. The early reports from TG players that took the plunge and bought the German Version have been very exciting, and that isn't really the finished game even.

    BUT!!!!!!!!

If you come into the server making problems, like spamming chat and voice comms (like is done constantly in PR these days), you will be banned almost instantly. You will not cause problems for other players that can act maturely and are willing to put forth the effort necessary for the team to finish the mission. Squads listen and do what the commander says. If not that squad will just be kicked. That is the way it is done now in ARMA1, and we are very happy with it.

If you are not sure how the game is played, you should ask someone in the fourms for help or on teamspeak. Not just jump in the game expecting to lone wolf and do your own thing while figuring stuff out. That is what single player is for. I have helped dozens of TG guys with their first night in game, showing them 1 on 1 what they need to know, and there are lots of other TG ARMA players willing to do the same. We are going to have TGU classes as well.

Below is what you can expect from the game. If it is not your style, please think long and hard before you spend $50 on a game.

i dunno if i'd be able to play something with less shooting that pr. then i'd be, imo, more role playing than actual gaming.
    EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think your exact phrase has been stated in every ARMA thread on these forums, trying to help people realize before they buy that ARMA isn't exactly a "game" in the way PR is. It is more towards a military simulator. Something just a bit toned down from what a real military would use to train it's troops.

It isn't always fun. It isn't always exciting. Lots of times in game my group would complete part of a mission, and because we lost our helo and other transport, we had to steal a civilian car, drive all the way across the map (it is a HUGE map), get a troop truck, drive back, get everyone, and them move on to finish the mission. We are talking about 10-20 mins. of down time. Long enough to go eat dinner and come back. But the fighting parts of that mission made it worth while to stick around and see the mission through.

But the real problem is when the kiddies show up and think since they hear the grown ups talk about arma in the forums, they should get the game too. Then they get in and find out how there are boring parts, and either start goofing off and team killing or will start posting in forums about how sucky ARMA is and you shouldn't play it.

It is not a "game" for everyone. But for those that do like this type of entertainment, it is pretty amazing.

Bottom line. If you can't handle sitting around at the beginning of a mission for up to 20 mins while you wait for the squad leaders and CO to go off and plan out the mission and you have nothing to do, then YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS GAME! And you will get kicked/banned quick if you think you are going to just mess around for that 20 mins. and shoot randomly or spam VOIP. It is pretty cool that you can hit a button and have a seat on the ground. While waiting you and some buddies can shoot the **** on direct comms so only people with-in about 10 feet can hear you. Talk about sports, gaming, whatever. You actually get to know people, and then it can be weird when they have custom faces and stuff and you see them get killed and know they are out of the game. So your on comms with the SL like "Oh crap!! Jeepo just went down!!" (haha jeepo if you are keeping up with this thread. You know you are always the first to go )

    Re: PR versus ARMA

The TG server is pretty hardcore, so I've been honing on other servers (getting air time in the assets, figuring out weapon deviation on rifles, etc) until I stop feeling like a noob.

Eg, I ran around with a HMG tripod because I thought I needed it to use the tripod on my 50cal (I did make a 900m headshot though that round, so I wasn't to much of liability)

No the noobness is wearing off and I'm liking the environment and openness of ArmA. With friends a hell of a lot more satisfing than PR.

Played ArmA a little later after it was released... Liked the game a lot but there were waaaay too many bugs, and they thicked me off... And right then, PR started getting better and better each release, so I just switched for good...

Really looking forward to ArmA2, and temped to try ArmA until it`s out. So you guys who have been playing it, tell me something: did it improve? Bugs fixed, etc?

    Re: PR versus ARMA

Quick question. I was watching some arma1 vids and their was a guy in a chinook with a face painted like the comic book character Spawn, across from him was a due who's "camo" paint was the american flag on his face. Are these unlocks or is it like Q3 where you can edit the face skin?

Or is it like HL1 where you can edit the skins but only you, or others you gave the skin too, will see it?

Also could someone clarify if arma2 is out the 19th or the twenty somethinkt? Everytime i look someone says differently!

Yea its in .86, I'm also looking forward to it. But I think the English version of ArmA 2 is being released on the 19th, meaning Americans will be able to play as well

Faces are customizable. I currently have the union jack painted on my face.

    Re: PR versus ARMA

Yep, Gunner has an awesome custom face, and when he was in my squad one hardcore Sunday session, it really helped keep track of him while we were on the move clearing streets and alleys.

Here are pics of gunner from that mission. The last one is about 5 sec. before a sniper way off in a junk field dropped his ass
