Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
Then I don't think you read my prior post in this thread regarding Seven Gates. Both Citadel and Courtyard (I think that is the name of the other flag close by) are both UCB because there isn't a clear delineation between the two.
So, you were, in fact, wrong. Knifing someone in their main is the same as shooting them and would be treated the same by the admins if reported.

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
I got two questions-
1) On Seven Gates- If I am specopsing around the Main preforming some espionage like activities- Is it fair for me to engage a hostel firing out of his main at squad mates- or other friendlies ?
2) Similar situation I often play sniper and more the once have found myself overlooking an enemy main reporting troop movements- And have on occasion killed people firing out of there main at friendlies. Is that okay?
Basically the same question twice but in different situations - Is it ok to intervene and protect friendlies from enemies firing out of there main- even if you are not in danger.

Not to be a debbie downer, negative nancy, or anything of the such....but to me this rubs me the wrong way.

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
Regardless canadian. The rules state that you cannot fire inside the ucb or at anyone inside the ucb unless they are firing at YOU. This means that if you're a sniper and you see enemies firing out at someone else, you get to do exactly that: sit there and watch. If you have teammates that are that close to the UCB before its in play, they should be able to take care of themselves. If they cant, it's their own fault for being somewhere they probably shouldnt have been in the first place.

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
Although I might point out that if a firefight is going on in the woods close to the UCB and a soldier dies does anyone really know where that bullet came from? It's not exactly something that can be policed at all. Is it against the rules? Technically. Is it something anyone will ever notice? Probably not. We are all on the honor system gentlemen.

Yay! I had this thinger last time on EJOD where I was all "That APC is shooting at us! Shoot at everything around it, since its in the main!" And it was quite annoying.
This clarification on the safety of the main is much appreciated.

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
I see everyone is trying to work out the most tactical advantage they can have for their team but i would like to point out that often these spec op attacks and snipers and hat crews do nothing but ruin the game play for everyone. for example the other day we were playing qwai river, a fair map in my opinion, and the opposing team, chinese are attacking mine and government office before local temple was taken. The anti tank guys took out our apcs rolling right out of base. the "vodniks",i dont know the chinese nomenclature, shooting supply trucks and troops. We managed to get mine but the rest of the map was defend mine and noone enjoyed that.
What happened to the dont attack an un cap because that rule is shredded as far as i can see.

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
pretty soon we are going to be camping out side the main base blowing up everything that is 100m from the flag and killing troops as they leave the spawn area. oh wait........

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
for anyone wondering where i suddenly popped out from, i was stuck with dialup for the last two months so i couldn't do much but now i have a better net ^_^
on topic now:
wow, i'm not entirely sure if this clears everything up, or makes it even more confusing. is the bridge a valid target now or is that already outdated? i guess i'll go check the rules again >_>
i have to admit though, these rules are pretty useful for maps like Kashan and other clearly defined mains.

Re: Inquiring minds want to know - UCB rules
wait a second, i'm sorry, but i need a BIT more clarification.
i reread the rules again and i just found a section saying we're not allowed to restrict access to and from the main (unless it's in play i'm assuming) and it specifically mentions anti-vehicle mines but what about blowing bridges? would it not be allowed for spec-ops to go to the main and destroy the roads? right now, i'm thinking specifically about BiMing (64), the British main and the bridge just east of it in C2 keypad 6.
