Re: Tactical movement
WHAT you only got 4 clips on patrol, where did you guys go, I would hate to be in a 4 hour firefight with only that much ammo... danish troops have 8 clips in Afghanistan and if you asked any of the people i served with weed rather have more than less, we usually had 15000 5.56 rounds and 8000 7.62 and some (~5000) 12.7mm when we went on patrol and that was a recon platoon of 30 people.
If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Either it's my avatar or he enjoys himself on the odd occasion that I actually do something right in game when I'm SL'ing him.
Don't let that scoreboard fool you. 9/10 my squad is a cluster****

Re: Tactical movement
4 clips, yes (M16A1 or A2,too). Sometimes we do not even have MG support in urban fight. Mostly my job is to take care of civilian and soldier in the RED area (I am a doctor in service of 1-3 months per year with no pay). Most of the attack were ambush by muslim seperatist in Southern provinces of Thailand. It would be lovely that have a lot of ammo like top notch military country like yours.
I know that Skud is a guy and I do love his marksmanship.

Re: Tactical movement
I also agree with tactical bounds, you die less and get better squad play, i also think staggered file on either side of a road works. But in the 3 mins youve got, and different people in your squad every time this is impossible, i try almost every time, only for it to thrown in my face, (well normally on TG people try at the start, less so on others)

Thanks for the sig Bandaid (look at how well made my avatar is!)

"Nice write up on tactics and movement but unfortunately I think you'd be asking far too much of the average PR player trying to impliment these."

Re: Tactical movement
I know what you mean but tournament isnt perfect either, its the same people playing as a pub pretty much.
What is different & the main benefit is a fairly fixed squad member makeup whereas pub teams constantly change by the map
Anyways the blob tactic is gaining popularity in sport now too

You dont need anything advanced as an alternative. Let your pub team wander wherever they like so long as they are in the area of the flag. When enemy appear (this is a defensive strategy) they converge from all different directions separately, so long as they have the individual skills and discipline to attack on request it should be much more effective then the whole squad in one place, directly on the flag
The reward isnt enough maybe. People play the game so its as interesting as possible, dying or losing the game isnt nearly as big an influence as boredom. I think the game is conflicting in this way presentlyasking far too much of the average PR player trying to impliment these

Re: Tactical movement
About the bounding overwatch movement. It's amazing how you can achieve by just kneeling at a corner and look around for a bit. Even in vanilla BF2 people automatically pick it up and start doing it themselves.
After a bit more squadleading (and even get the highest score almost purely based on teamplay score) and getting a tip from a TG player, I am getting used to using the markers alot. A movement marker will the players an idea which direction they need to go and attack markers will let them focus on the enemy. When a player points out an enemy I place a marker and they usually respond a bit more to the left or right, resulting in the exact position of the enemy without myself even seeing them.
When I am not squadleading I am now suprised how often SLs forget to use the markers. There is usually an old movement marker around, sometimes attracting squad members who didn't look at the map to check which direction the SL is going. And when there is contact I need to keep checking the map to understand where the enemy is, when the SL says that the enemy is to the left, at a building or some direction.
Then once you have set the markers, the squad is easier to keep together and some will usually immediately start moving towards it. Hang back and see who is behind and designate them to cover the others. I rarely experience any problems with that alhough the result is sometimes limited by my own inexperience of squad leading and playing PR.
Once I feel more secure about leading, I am going to try "training" the squad members on the move in the beginning of the game, or when moving in safe areas. I don't know the name anymore, but the most memorable time as squad member was with an experienced TG squad leader who let us wait in line for the chopper, make defensive rings around a LZ and placed us into fire teams and it all worked.
So if anything, it is asking too much of the average squad leader as I rarely experience any problems if the squad is led well.asking far too much of the average PR player trying to impliment these

Re: Tactical movement
one of the pros in being in or making a clan is that you have the time to train squads in your clan tactical ways like that, therefor you are better than the other team that might have that one magical squad when you have 9
