Re: 0 players on password night?
sounds like a good idea disposable, both the prepered map and the scrim

It would be nice to know what maps would come upIf people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Re: 0 players on password night?
I like that idea much more disposablehero, I think that would go a long way to getting more organized battles happening on a regular time frame.
The way you describe hero, you get maximum organisation for a minimum amount of effort by admins, etc.
All it takes is ONE solid commander and each team and you can have the chance for an extremely well coordinated battle. If you hold these regularly, Im sure you will get TONS of commanders flooding in that would absolutely LOVE to do what they do on sunday night...
I know personally I love commanding but its really a hit and miss, if you got crap squad leaders than there is really no point.... this way you ensure top quality squad leaders will be avaliable and the CO will be known before hand which will be really nice

Re: 0 players on password night?
Whenever I squad lead I always follow CO orders, always act in the best interest of the team, and always, always use the proper TeamSpeak coordination channel. In my opinion, TS is the most useful asset a team can have; nothing compares to quick and efficient inter-squad communication. Often, you can tell which team is winning just by looking at the TS channels. So, it's unfortunate that so few squad leaders actually use TS properly.
I may be wrong, but I bet we will never see the kind of teamwork many of you are hoping for until squad leaders start using TS more. Sure, COs can help, but coordinating through a person who basically acts as a human switchboard is not very effective. Add to this the sad fact that most pub COs are more of a hindrance than a help and we end up with gameplay where teamwork does not exist outside of the squad.
I like the idea of a more organized, scrim-type password night, but I don't think it is the final answer to TG's teamwork woes. Instead, I think we need to see more regulars being proactive, squad leading, and using TS. I realize not everyone has an insatiable desire to squad lead (like me), and TS can be hard to set up and configure for the uninitiated. But teamwork is not something that is going to magically happen; we have to work for it. So, in an effort to walk my talk, I am totally willing to help people set up TeamSpeak. And if anyone wants to do some squad bombing (what I call coordinating between squads) PM me or xfire me at charitycase and we'll set a date. Let's do this.

Re: 0 players on password night?
Charity is right. We've had the solution all along; we just haven't been using it. Teamspeak is the answer. I find it amazingly more efficient and easy to coordinate over Teamspeak than having to communicate through a CO. I personally think the CO's job is to strategize and keep things running smoothly, while the squads execute them the way they wish, using communication that doesn't involve having the CO being messenger.
So to conclude, I'd like both. Disposable, it is time for another internal scrim. Maybe set it up as a monthly thing, as popularity with these scrims is always high. They definately show TG teamwork at it's best, with pre-planning too, for added realism and organization.
Charity, I'm quite used to "squad bombing" with you, as I used to never load in fast enough to join your squad anyway. I have to say, it is the best. Always a pleasure, anytime, and with anyone. We shall commence the bombing of squads.

Re: 0 players on password night?
I'm willing to use TS more often if that's the general concensus... though, to be honest, the times I've tried nobody was using them.
Out of curiosity, what is this "squad bombing" of which you speak? Sounds likes it's entertaining, messy, or a bit of both.
...I mean, hell, if high explosives are involved, I am IN. :P
(okay, coordinating between squads, I get it. Why "bombing", though?)

Re: 0 players on password night?
yeah, coordination between squads = win. Today (around 9:45 to 10:15 EST) we were playing Kashan 16. Charity and Dirtboy were both leading a squad. They were in the same channel and using coordination, our team was able to quickly cap and hold flags. We eventually won by capping U.S. outpost and having them bleed to death to have a score of something like 275 to 0.

Re: 0 players on password night?
I would be interested in hearing how you integrated TS into PR.
DO you have it running on another screen or something, or by mapping a hot key for each squad? IS there a trick to using the internal VOIP and TS together or anything?
I know TS is second nature for alot of you guys but not me. I would appreciate a few pointers.

Re: 0 players on password night?
Squad bombing is having several different squad leaders form specific squads before the map begins and coordinate over teamspeak to work together and achieve their objectives. For example, rather than having six members of the 6th in one 'awesome' (ish) squad, they would each create their own public squad and have six organised squads working together, although each would be comprised of public squad members. This tries to get the most out of good players that otherwise might end up in disorganised squads, having all 31 members of a team coordinating and working in unison is a good way to win!
I know the 15th have tried this on a smaller scale with 2-3 squads working together, we haven't done anything as ambitious as creating six squads yet though.
There, the secret is out.

I run TS in the background with a hotkey to mute and change channels up or down. I join the public channel and then can change down to team coordination 1 or 2 as needed without minimising out of the game. Coordination in teamspeak is done by having a coordination channel for each team where the squad leaders (or sometimes members) can speak to everyone else who is listening on that team. There isn't a way to specifically talk to individual squads.
EDIT: Forgive the double post, just realised.
